Beat UTEP badly and then we must beat Vandy by at least 2-3 TD's unfortunately to stay above water... then let the chips fall and be constantly haunted by the Arky game as the point that probably knocked us out of the playoff...

Part of the deal though is that it is impossible for them to get a bye. They can never be higher than the 5 seed, even if they’re the top-ranked team.

Timing of losses matters just as much as anything else.

That's bull and more committee speak. It only matters if you want to make it more complicated to massage the rankings and justify bogus. A win is a win no matter when it happens rankings.

Which is stupid. Bama getting in because they lost 3 weeks earlier to Tennessee instead of Georgia is ridiculous. There’s zero valid argument for Bama (unless they straight up win the SEC champ) being in but not Tennessee in.

On top of that, had Bama played in Athens they lose that game too. Bama was very lucky to win that game

I think this whole 12 team playoff thing has become a total farce. There is no reasonable thinking person who thinks Boise St or any other G5 school should be included, actually it should be the G6 because the B12 should be included.
Maybe the NFL should include the champion of their flag league in the playoffs or the NBA should include the highest rated G-League team.
12 teams is too many already and if a team like Tennessee were to be left out or seeded lower than some scrub school whose biggest games are on Thursday night or on SEC+ then it is total joke.

Sometimes but not always. Most recent examples in 22 Tcu and Ohio state both lost their most receht games and made the playoffs. ND got killed by Clemson last week of the season in 2020 and made it in

Really there are no criterion for the CFP committee. The goalposts move every time they meet. They are like soccer referees, they are just making it up as they go along. Kirby said after the game, "I don't know what they looked at anymore." Ultimately, they are going to do what they are told.

I kind of agree. I think Boise St could beat some of the teams that get in Colorado/byu, Miami/smu, Penn state. They played good vs Oregon. But I do agree Bama/OM/UT deserve a spot

The fact that any of these teams get in is a complete joke. Florida, LSU, South Carolina, heck maybe even Vandy would whip them.
