Hurt it in the game and played on it. Tough kid, but gotta learn “just rub some dirt on it!” doesn’t apply to the preseason. I think Darnold would’ve started the season anyway. Damper for Viking fans.@butchna
J.J. McCarty had a nice preseason game and now he is out for a while because of a torn meniscus. About 8 weeks I believe.
I think Chris White was on scholarship. Originally signed as a QB. I don’t know about Jeff Powell, but it is more likely since he transferred from William and Mary and was more of a track star previously. Can’t remember the players name, but when the Vols won the Sugar Bowl against Miami, they had a walkon CB who led the SEC in interceptions. The RB who torched the canes was also a walkon.
Scholarship status doesn’t always mean that they are the best players on the team…
This wasn't a knock on Jabari. I just think Bishop is that good, if he stays healthy. When Small signed with UT, he was thought to be a packaged deal to get Big O. Very few fans thought he'd ever see the field. You consider Bishop a borderline walk-on, but his recruitment was an oddity. Did you see him play in high school? He was probably the best RB in the state. Like Small, he won't wow you on paper with measurables. But the kid just produced every single week. I know Seldon is out right now, but did you expect Bishop to be running second behind Sampson to start the season? He's coming back from a season ending injury that happened last preseason himself. His name was the first one mentioned by Heupel after Friday's scrimmage, and he was running against our first team defense. I know he hasn't played a single down, but I definitely wouldn't bet against the kid. I think the Jabari comparison is fair. He's come in with zero hoopla and just put his head down and went to work. Sounds like Jabari Small 2.0 to me.You might end up being correct, but what current evidence is there that Bishop is an upgraded version of Jabari Small? The guy ran for 2100+ yds and 24 TDs in his career while working a pretty even split of carries. Additionally, he averaged over 5 ypc. More than Arian Foster, Jalen Hurd, Jay Graham, Montario Hardesty, and Travis Stephens, among others.
It seems wildly assumptive that a borderline walk-on RB who has yet to take a snap is an automatic upgrade.
@TrippieReddWhat are you all's favorite sleep supplements?
I've heard magnesium helps.
Don't love melatonin due to a bit of grogginess, but it's fine and may try again. And I HATE diphenhydramine.
