Recruiting Football Talk VIII

When the biggest Alabama fan Paul Finebaum states, Alabama isn't getting in without a miracle then I believe Paul. Although I have read a bunch of comments in other forums slobbering for Alabama and Mississippi to get in playoffs, coming from supposedly Tennessee fans that's alarming..
The ONLY and I mean ONLY reason for Vol fans to want more SEC teams in the playoffs (especially Bama) would be if that means more money that UT would receive because of more money 💰 going to the conference.

I don’t fully 10000% mean this when I say it, but I’m getting veryyyyyyyyy close, I don’t care about HS recruiting too much anymore. I won’t see 90% of those kids on the field till year 3.

Not soon, but I feel like one day it’s gonna get to the point where HS kids are just gonna have to go to a smaller schools to prove they can play then transfer to a UT, Texas, etc. unless you’re a top QB.
Minor Leagues to the Major leagues type ****.

A good majority of younger guys aren’t gonna play till their JR/SR years if at all, because now we can just take transfers like candy and put them in starting spots. This makes the younger guys mad and they leave. So at the end of the day, it’s just a wash. You lose the HS kid, but gain a quality transfer.

Kids can come and go, just win.
It might become more common with some positions like WR/RB/DB, but there is always going to be a talent deficit at development positions like OL/DL.

Just like there’s not enough good QBs in the NFL there will never be enough good OL in CFB for all the contending teams year in and year out. Much easier to get those guys as recruits vs wait for the Portal when there’s 1-2 quality OTs there but there’s almost 10 teams who think that’s the missing piece they need to compete for the playoffs/championship

UT - 38
Vanderbilt - 34

Whit Taylor threw for the second most yrds in SEC history, but it wasn’t enough, as UT defeated Vandy 38-34 in Knoxville. James Berry rushed for 102 yrds, Steve Alatorre had 10 completions for 319 yrds and 2 TDs, and Willie Gault had 4 receptions for 219 yrds including an 80 yrd TD. After two blowout losses to start the year, the Vols finished 7-4 and went to the Garden State Bowl.

I’m wondering how active Tennessee will be in the transfer portal this year. I’m guessing we sign four players from the portal. A guard, a defensive tackle, a linebacker, and a safety. Thoughts?
I could see an IOL and up to 2 DTs. I'm on record that I'm all for running with our young guys on the OL next year at all 4 spots (assuming Karic not back). At some point we have to play the kids on the roster.

I dont see see getting a LBer or Safety unless someone leaves. We would be veteran heavy at both spots going into next year and alot of young depth behind them.

I don't eat a lot of wild duck, but my cousin does and says they can taste like all kinds of things. Some are fishy and some are closer to farm raised. He typically only eats the breast meat of wild. Farm raised is almost more like dark meat. Can even be served red. I kind of think of it like lamb vs pork. Similar in aspects, but not the same.

The best part of duck is the crispy skin. Get a good Peking duck at a nice Chinese restaurant.

May head down to Chop Suey Palace around Christmas. . .

One of my favorite teams. They were terrible to start season and fought and became a good team. No quit

Just looked at the game times for the weekend. No Egg Bowl today? What Communist bed-wetters came up with that? Looks like it'll be Turkey sandwiches with Tulane.

Tulane got a nice QB/RB duo.

40-14

I wonder if they will be one of the only, if not the only team with a potential
3000 yard passer
1000 yard rusher
1000 yards receiver

Darian has 2200
They have the rusher
Mario needs 300 receiving yards

3 games left…I think?
