Recruiting Football Talk VIII

What if Texas beats Georgia by 14+? I wonder if they would drop Georgia below us at least. Probably not. I understand what you are saying…pretty much the rankings/seedings will be almost identical to what is released Tuesday unless there is an upset in a championship game that gets someone in who is on the outside in the next rankings.
I think so. That + the GA Tech debacle.

I think teams will move, depending on severity of loss. The committee has already said these games will matter, beyond just the byes.

I just don't think it will get anyone booted from the entire playoffs, which I think was more of the worry by some.

It's really shaping up to be us vs a top talented team (or PSU #11). Feels like we'll have to get lucky to land an IU, Miami, etc.

Rank these 1-8 (1 being most favorable for us):

Would you rather have:

A) OSU at The Shoe (7)

B) OSU in Neyland (3)

C) Tex in Austin (6)

D) Tex in Neyland (2)

E) UGA in Athens (8)

F) UGA in Neyland (4)

G) Penn St whiteout (5)

H) Penn St in Neyland (1)
I would love a shot at OSU in Neyland.

That would be trash! And that would be exact proof about why you can’t have a standing AD from a power 4 conference be the chairman! Sankey will riot for us if we aren’t hosting before OSU. Their 2nd loss is way worse than ours and it’s not even close!
Michigan (7-5) at home by 3 and Arkansas (6-6) on the road by 5 is pretty comparable. Slight edge to us jmo

Losing to #1 by 1 point is going to look a tad better than by 14 to 2-loss UGA though. Wish we hadn't let them get that last score.

Overall I'd say we are neck and neck as far as losses go. But wins over 2 other playoff teams would seem to keep them higher. Hoping the coaches poll anchors their thinking some. Was surprised they dropped them so far, but that's a good look for us. Hope the AP has us higher too, would help us.

Ryan Day has to be one of the least appealing head coaches with a 85%+ win rate. I legitimately have no idea if he's even decent outside of Columbus.

And honestly, I think for his sake, he needs to find that out. Carve his own path somewhere else.

That said, would any P4 fanbase actually be excited to hire him?

Has Dylan Sampson’s 4 fumbles come on the first drives of our games? I’m thinking most if not all have come on our first drive of the game. Many of them have been when we are in scoring position. He needs to clean that up. Since it is so early in the game, I wonder if it’s just a concentration issue?

Self-fulfilling prophecy, maybe? So concerned about not fumbling that he fumbles.

Boom! Though the margin is super close, just 26 votes ahead of OSU.

Am surprised we didn't gain more ground on UGA smh. Went from 132 votes behind to 102 votes behind.

We just beat Vandy as bad as anyone has all season, bar 1 other team. And UGA needed everything to not drop...what? 6 or 7 spots? So 1 play in OT makes a 6 or 7 spot difference? Lmao. They should've been dropped or at least razor-thin ahead of us, at minimum.

So, if we’re #6 in both the AP and Coaches poll ahead of OSU, surely the committee isn’t going to screw us and give them the home game over us?? Wards Manuel, it’s time to be a Michigan man and screw your bitter rival.
Of course the committee is going to screw us.

And don’t call me Shirley.

“We almost certainly will…and don’t call us Shirley.”
