Recruiting Football Talk VIII

If we play at either TOSU or PSU, we would need to do something that we haven’t done in a long time:
Beat a top 10 ranked team
On the road
Probably at night
Probably with temperatures in the 20’s (with snow or freezing rain?)

Could we do that? Sure.
Would we be favored to do so? Certainly not.
So, next Saturday I will be pulling for some blowouts. Go Texas! Go Oregon! Blow out those pups 🐶 and lions 🦁
Still hoping for a home game at Neyland even though that appears unlikely.
Let it snow

Do they not fine teams for rushing the court in basketball If not, why is it different than rushing the field in Football? If it is for player safety, do football players not have on protection with their pads and helmets and basketball players have no protection.

This is what I was saying earlier - the only teams that can move are the ones playing but if they move them others can move as a result.

But there is no way for us to move in front of OSU.

Penn State is the most logical of teams that can move or they stay exactly where they are.

Penn State could move behind Tennessee or just in front of Tennessee. They would have to really look awful in the loss or a season ending injury to 44 or their QB.
Is being a 21 point fav and losing an awful loss?

I don't understand Ohio being over us. Not at all.
Same record and two wins over teams currently in the playoff is the reason. Not crazy complicated. Personally I don't think we should be pretending Indiana is anything but a borderline top 25 team from a power ranking perspective, but we are and that's how you land at their conclusion.

I would have hoped the committee would nod more toward recency. If they had, South Carolina would be in. If they cared at all about recency they would at least be ahead of Ole Miss.

But it's pretty clearly number of losses + head-to-head + impressive wins. Through that lense I think the rankings are pretty consistent. Which is why pretty much everyone predicted the order the last couple of days.

@TN-POSSUM just posted there will be no suspensions for OSU players.
Thanks to you, I looked it up. Very weirdly the article said Michigan planted the flag and that has been done numerous times and never been considered a penalty. Nor has any team ever attacked and fought a team planting a flag. But, it said, Ohio State attacked and initiated numerous fights. Fighting does call for suspension for the first half of the next game. The article said Michigan then began to protect themselves by fighting back. The Big 10 claimed the attackers and defenders in such a case were somehow equally at fault. 6-loss Michigan is done for the year. But it chose not to hold the Ohio State to the NCAA rules. Instead it fined both schools. I think they had to pay $100 and a six pack of Bud Light.
