Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Listen, y'all who are debating this playoff ranking business will be a lot happier and more productive if you get this straight. It is all about ratings and fan bases. All the top fan bases will be represented in the playoffs. The Cinderellas will be good storylines and be matched to lose their first game. I said it yesterday, Bama is going to be in and there is no way we host or face Blowhio St in the first round.
I'm gonna take the heat but what the heck. I given that I think SMU loses to Clemson, Oregon beats Penn St, and considering tv, gambling matchups, and story lines.
My predictions:
12 Ariz St v 5 TU
9 Indiana v 8 UT
11 Bama v 6 ND
10 Penn St v 7 OSU
4 Clemson
3UGA
2 Boise St
1 Oregon

After the field is set it is settled on the field and by the officials.

Not really concerned with Florida's class. If you build your class with players that are there for the sole reason of money and not your program or coaching relationships I doubt it's a firm foundation. Will fall apart when s!*t hits the fan.... or always be seeking another bag at the end of each season.

But they’d still be Big 10 2nd place finisher. Why would you move 2nd place finisher in the conference below the third place finisher? Y’all’s line of thinking is to punish a team for making it to their conference championship game. The two teams playing in each conference championship game are the first and second place finishers for their conference. So, even if you lose the conference championship game, you should NOT be ranked below the third place finisher.

Why is this hard to understand? Losing the conference championship game still means you finished second
You're putting too much weight on that one single line of reasoning. That's like the people who say "they can't be ranked behind someone they beat head to head!"

For instance, Indiana is 3rd in the big 10, but they're ranked behind 4th place OSU. So already the committee has proven to you (ha) that they're not going to follow conference standings. Nor should they, so I'm really surprised you're stuck on that one data point as being so definitive.

Trying to apply logic to the choices the committee continues to make is a fools game. They will do exactly what they want, and put teams where they want and then retroactively attempt to justify it using whatever "evidence" they want.

Warde will never let two BIG10 teams face one another in elimination. People had it right UT has to take one for the team so Bama gets ND....

Don't care just win.

If Georgia wins the sec championship, there’s no way Boise could jump them. And they won’t drop Penn St below Indiana no matter how much they lose by so I would switch those two.

Boise State won't be a 2 seed really the only change.

I also think first round they're going to do their best to avoid putting potential championship level teams against each other. Penn State and Indiana could be flopped but I think Texas, Tennessee, Notre Dame, and Ohio State have a good chance to be the home game teams in round 1.
