Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Happy Friday

December 6, 2024: You need to adjust your thoughts and expectations to express the reality of your current position. There are things you must do in both the spiritual and natural realm that will enhance the truth of where you are headed. Above all trust God to bring you through this time without a hitch. James 1:6-8 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways

Interesting that he never drops Penn State below Ohio State... I don't think I agree with him there. I think if Penn State loses we go to Happy Valley.
it would take a complete beat down. what Ward said on Tuesday night, i can't get out of my head. doesn't mean they follow thru with what he said, they've done contrary things with the rankings week to week this year, so i get that. but he basically said that if you're not playing, there's no other data points, so there won't be any real changes. the losers of the title games would just swap with who they had in the top 4.

but again, if there's a couple of beat downs....that may change that line of thought.

but i don't see them, as a result of "resume comparison" putting PSU below OSU simply because of h2h or all the sudden OSU's resume is enhanced in some way.

and i still think there's a really bad precedent to be set if they kick SMU out if they lose. but they left that door open Tuesday, so i won't be shocked.

but they're firmly in this thing right now and if they weren't playing, they're in as an at large today. so effectively, they would be punishing SMU for losing a title game, and if it can happen once, it can happen again......

i agree with Pate on us and OSU. i think that's happening, regardless.

but this whole format is completely idiotic.....that's the real problem.

Joking aside, my guess is we reevaluate anyone still unsigned after tomorrow and decide whether we want to pursue any for the February signing period. Portal officially opens on Monday, and closes for entry on Dec 29th, IIRC. We'll see who we lose, and that will probably shape our portal and further high school recruiting. All that while preparing for the playoffs. Coaches have a busy month ahead of them.
The schedule for a coach of a high profile college football team is ridiculous, I really can't imagine anyone wanting to do that, regardless of money.

Thank you for this, I needed it.

You have to absolutely love it. It has to be ingrained and normal for you......... And your family has to also appreciate it and love that about you as well.

There is no realm where we lose to Northern Illinois at any point this year.

Just a drunk thought.
Well, we would kinda have to play them so ... I guess your stoned and drunk azz is right.
P.S I hope you pass it quickly, they really suck. I would rather have red wasps sting my testicles than have a kidney stone.

UT - 28
Hawaii - 6

For the final game of the season, the Vols traveled to Hawaii for 8 days, and to play the Rainbows. 40,000 witnessed the greatest rushing performance (at that time) in Vols history. Stanley Morgan set a record with 201 rushing yards on 11 carries with touchdowns of 6 and 66 yrds. Just to add insult to injury, Morgan also scored on a 63 yrd punt return in the 28-6 victory.

I have been to many historic pro and college venues and Neyland is unmatched. The closest is Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge.

I have a feeling when it’s all set and done, we won’t be matched up with Ohio St. They will jump Georgia if they lose, and I assume PSU will lose and OSU will jump them due to head to head.

I think we’re either hosting or playing in Happy Valley in two weeks.

i think my biggest issue is - not bvs- but seeing that they are right there and so close to taking the next step but the dumb mental mistakes keep popping up. that drives me crazy and makes me type dumb stuff in the game threads lol
Penalties are always frustrating whether they’re controversial or non controversial(meaning actual penalties)..I never trust refs any more if you know what I mean..🙄

If #'s 1 & 2 win, then I think most likely we host Penn St and OSU hosts GA. Addresses a lot of minor issues:
- Both the SEC and B1G get to host
- 3 loss team isn't hosting
- Columbus weather should be marginally better than State College

You mean like if they had officiated our game in Athens or Georgia Tech's game there in a less extremely one-sided way (which was was so obvious that X was full of video examples), we would be hosting in the playoffs?

Agree and going to more and more every year. I don't want to call them boring but they leave much to be desired. I have to say the tailgating in Baton Rouge was 2nd to none though.
This 150%. It was like trick or treating in the high class neighborhood for grown ups, just walk around and get free amazing food and and beer.
And I have never seen so many high functioning drunks in my life. I saw one Cajun cook an entire menu of food while drinking a case of PBR, before the game.
