Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Some parts of Rock Hill is decent. They’re trying to revitalize the downtown area. Other parts to include around the main library is surrounded by homeless people.

I’m in Fort Mill, immediately north of Rock Hill - same county. There are three libraries within 20 minutes from our house that I take the kids to (not as frequently now that they’re all teens with cell phones 🙄). The downtown Rock Hill library always had homeless people around the parking lot and sleeping inside, upstairs.

As far as the football part - I doubt that’s the case anymore. I know Malik Clark is from there and he’s committed to uscjr. Years ago there was a receiver committed to us from there but he ended up getting a git shirt and ended up nowhere that I remember. Early Pruitt era timeframe.

Outside of that - Fort Mill has had more big time talent come through but they just get “recruited” to schools in Charlotte. The 5 star Michigan commit QB from a couple years ago went to one of the schools in Fort Mill his junior year before ending up in Charlotte his senior year. Same with big time running back I believe.

We live probably 20 minutes apart bud. Agree with all of this. I am stuck here because i married here and had kids...much rather be in Knoxville which will always be home to me.

I’m glad Oregon’s toughest game next year is @ PSU.

Smh

Missouri schedule is just as bad. After the ridiculously easy schedule they had this season...preseason THEY were picked to be a playoff team and maybe even in the SEC champ game due to their easy schedule
How do they get 2 extremely easy years in a row?!? If anyone should have an easy schedule this year its Flarda...who i hate more than anyone...but they played the hardest schedule in the SEC this year and probably hardest nationally. Sunbelt Billy probably deserves to be SEC COY. I said preseason that if they even made a bowlgame at 6-6 that he would win coach of the year. He did it...but it looks like the reject at SC will likely win it.

This is why I say Banks need to bring the heat vs OSU.

If Howard has time with that core Howard could pick us apart.

They have 4 legit WRs that will all be 1st or 2nd round draft picks. Better WRs than anyone in the SEC has. We HAVE to get pressure one way or another.

Nashville, Atlanta, and Charlotte are the three core areas for Tennessee recruiting. Always have been and always will be. When Tennessee is not good, we fall off in those areas. When Tennessee is good, we kill it in those areas and cherry pick elsewhere. It’s not about opening up new areas. It’s about maintaining those vital core areas.

So where does Tennessee always play neutral site games? Nashville, Atlanta, and Charlotte. That’s not a coincidence.

And honestly, they’re fun. We had a blast in Charlotte this year. We will have a blast in Atlanta next year. It’s better than another home game against an FCS school.

Didnt know you were here in Charlotte for the game bud. Yall could have tailgated with us. My little brother who has a nuclear engineering degree from NCSU flew in for the azzwhipping too. We had a blast. Hope the VOLS are here again soon.

UT - 42
Vanderbilt - 17

The Vols ended a six game losing streak, as JT Strout and Harrison Bailey showed some promise in the win at Vanderbilt. Shrout completed 6-of-13 passes for 90 yards, 2 touchdowns and an interception. On the other hand, Bailey was 14-of-18 for 207 yards and another 2 touchdowns with no interceptions.

Velus Jones Jr. had 7 catches for 125 yards and 2 touchdowns, and Jalin Hyatt had 5 catches for 81 yards and a touchdown.

History was made in the game, as Vandy kicker Sarah Fuller made an extra point in the first quarter, becoming the first female to ever make a field goal kick in Power Five play.

those big private schools, Providence Day, charlotte Catholic etc...they've been doing that for years....they got really good at cherry picking great athletes at charter shools too. that's why they usually all suck lol. football in mecklenburg county is so much better overall than it was 20 years ago.....and yeah, that rock hill, ft. mill area has turned out some talent. i know we've gotten several players over the years just from Rock Hill.

We might could live rushing four most of the time and not blitzing a ton. I think we can get pressure up the middle with our DTs, it's a mismatch. Howard throws it up for grabs quite a bit. I say we get a couple picks.

I went to Northwestern when Benjamin Watson was there. A ton of kids from there and rock hill high went D1 and NFL, but back then rock hill was one of the elite suburbs of Charlotte and it had a really large low income area as well. Now the low income people got gentrified out and fort mill is kind of the elite suburb now, Rock Hill has passed its prime.

I appreciate it. I really do. But I'm not a great person, there are so many better. I'm just working overtime to compensate for me being a despicable human being in a former life.

It's my penance and I embrace it. We struggle daily, I think we all do. The person above through grace gave me the opportunity, I'm just doing my best not to screw it up and help the animals I can.
😘

I agree that we absolutely need to get pressure but I wouldn't start with the blitz.

According to my analytics:
- Will Howard is the #9 QB in CFB against the blitz.
- OSU has the #2 WR unit on quick / short passing routes.
- The WR unit drops to #34 on deep routes.

Reading OSU boards, they lost to Michigan because the Wolverines were able to get pressure with just 4. OSU's receiver room is the best in the country, and they excel in the quick / short game. Obviously we need to get to the QB, but if we have to depend on the blitz to do that we're playing into exactly what they want.

They're missing their starting left tackle. They're missing their starting center.

We've got the #8 pass rushing EDGE unit, the #9 pass-rushing Interior DL unit, but only the #117 pass-rushing LB unit.

Pardon the essay, but I know we're going to see a TON of "why are we not blitzing more???" next Saturday. Given the strengths / weaknesses on these 2 rosters, the path to winning has to be to beat them with 4, and I really think we can.
