Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Yeah, we're not swimming in the same pond with the big guys. Don't see that changing. I don't think Spyre is everything we've been told it is. I don't see anything changing either. I think our ceiling is going to always be a fringe playoff team. Wealthy programs will always rise to the top. Alabama is in a similar place as we are. I think you'll see, OSU, OR, TEXAS, ND at the top. They've got limitless money.
I think Spyre led the way, but everybody else quickly got their $&¡7 together and passed us.

I like Banks. That defense has come a long way. He does need a safety or two.!
And for THE THIRD...STRAIGHT....YEAR...it will once again be said...

Hey we allowed fewer points than last year (again)

And people once again want to let him go 😅🤣🤣

Boy they'll be real happy when we grab up a new DC and go back to allowing 30/game.

We LITERALLY made the playoffs this year because of our defense. We don't beat UF, Bama, OU?, etc without them.

I guess it depends on who it is, and what we do to replace.
That and why they leave. Is it because they got better offers and we couldn't match? Is it because they didn't like the program? Is it because they want more playing time? Is it because they lack confidence in their coaches/the program? I'm sure we'll never know why on some of them.

What do y’all think happens last night if the 2022 team walked out there? Do you think the same happens or the game becomes a shootout? Now if the 2022 team made the playoffs that year I know we probably advance a game since we would have taken one of the spots of michigan and TCU and beat one of them since they were mid. But curious as to how the 2022 team would have done last night.
With a healthy HH?

I think we could beat anyone that year, even moreso this year, on a neutral field. I truly think that was a top-3 team. Compared to this year's teams, it could be the frontrunner.

Just shows how ignorant some of you are. The LB coach you want fired just brought in a top 3 haul at the position cause he KNOWS we have issues. This team in 4 years has beat all my expectations from that terrible time. We need more players AND DEPTH to handle a long SEC grind.

We need more talent and if you want to fire coaches and start over, you deserve another Jeremy Pruitt and 15 more years of crap football. I’ll be outta here for good if that happens. Some of this fan base are either stupid or the biggest most immature puss and boots ever.
Place is pretty toxic which is to be expected. I see we are firing coaches left and right. Recruiting in this NIL era is largely tied to your budget given by boosters. Nick Saban retired because he saw the writing on the wall that Alabama didn’t have the money of schools like OSU, Texas, Georgia, etc. Florida went up about 30 spots in recruiting rankings in a week because they spent the money collected to fire Napier for recruits. Did Napier and staff just magically become great recruiters? Instead of firing coaches you need to recruit more wealthy donors who are nuts about football. Follow the money and that’s where you will magically see the “best “. Coaches. Heupel did great with less and that’s a fact. Give him OSUs roster and he would be undefeated. Time to go enjoy some family time. Choose joy.

1000% this

CJH has us near the top. We are upgrading all over. But the better talent needs time to grow and develop and hit the field.

We're just getting started.

All losses, just not the winning recipe for us.
Don't think most of those are designed runs.

Sacks are counted as runs in CFB. And of course scrambles/escapes.

It's a telling sign when we got overwhelmed and he either correctly ran out or maybe incorrectly jumped the gun. Maybe also a sign he needs to get off his #1 quicker and release.

As others have pointed out the offense the past two seasons had been rather stale as far as the passing game goes. Either because of talent or scheme. Whichever one it is the solution is the same. Heupel has to make some changes and get better recruiters and new blood for conceptual detail in scheme.

O line and wr groups must improve.

Route trees need more than one branch

The defensive side of the ball was concerning last night. We need to improve the linebacker and safety positions.

The D line disappeared down the late stretch of the season, that's a head scratcher to me.

If Banks goes somewhere that may not be the worst thing to happen to us.

It was a good season, just a very disappointing finish. We weren't contenders, we haven't closed the gap as much as we thought.

To the point others have made about Heupel being our Richt.........I believe there could be some truth to that. If Heupel doesn't improve the coaching talent around him and keep his concepts fresh I could definitely see that.

Didn’t say they were, Nico having 10+ “attempts” means OL isn’t protecting & WRs aren’t getting open.
