I went to Anakeesta in Gburg. The only things I will say about yesterday...............
#1. In 36 years of following Austin Peay basketball.........That was the worst f'ing performance I've seen
#2. That was the worst I've ever seen a "Good" UT team look in my lifetime.
Yesterday was a waste of time.
I'm sort of there too.The longer we go with Heupel, the more I’m convinced he is our Mark Richt. That’s not necessarily a bad thing.
Loyal to his coaches to a fault. Good not great coach. Good not elite recruiter. Will always field a good team and be good, but will not hit that elite tier. Compared to where we’ve been, a lot of people will be ok with that.
BB was pretty terrible at drafting talent in the last ten years and he was never a fan of free agency. So, not sure he’s a great fitAs unfortunate as it is, money is driving this. I don't know if it's a lack of money or an unwillingness to spend it. Players are cashing in and who can blame them? In today's game you have to purchase your rosters. Are we willing to do that?
Program loyalty seems to be as strong as the amount on the check. I'm not sure playing for the logo is much of a thing anymore.
When NC hired BB, I thought it was stupid but I'm rethinking it. It may be a genious move. Head coaches now need to be more roster managers than ever before. He's going to set that program up as a professional team. His staff will mimick a professional organization. Let's face it, college is now professional, no amateur about it.
And that's what I was telling people ....but they insisted that just being one of 12 teams is the end all be all...What happened last night does more harm than good in recruiting.
Drafting is a little different than recruiting. Money drives recruiting. Will NC spend it? That's what will determine how well he recruits. Free agency again isn't the same as the portal. Money drives that as well. Again, will NC spend it? I'll be watching. It's an interesting experiment.BB was pretty terrible at drafting talent in the last ten years and he was never a fan of free agency. So, not sure he’s a great fit
