We were completely exposed by their elite players. It absolutely hurt to watch. I want a guy like Jeremiah Smith on a team I support. That guy is a future best receiver in the NFL type of guy.Apparently our big boosters can't compare with other teams' big boosters. Or Heup just doesn't want the higher profile guys. I don't know. All this talk of culture, I like the culture our team has, but we need more elite level guys that will allow us to compete with the elite teams. OSU's WRs were legit elite. Especially that Smith kid. None of our WRs have displayed the level of ability they did.
When Michigan brought pressure he couldn't hit the broadside of a barn. This says otherwise. Howard led the nature in completion percentage against the blitz. I’m not suggesting that we couldn’t have done some different things, but he also does well against man coverage. Additionally, we are 26th nationally in blitzing percentage. This board makes it all sound so easy.
We gonna have to find more money and a consistent stream of it. The last couple of years we’ve went all in but I’m sure the pot is getting dry.We were completely exposed by their elite players. It absolutely hurt to watch. I want a guy like Jeremiah Smith on a team I support. That guy is a future best receiver in the NFL type of guy.
Well said. It’s funny that people can’t grasp that it’s harder to stop great offenses with elite talent. Just need to expand the ignore list or just log off and join the other grown ups.OSU and UGA, 2 of the elite teams in the sport that are also in the playoff, are the only teams we play with a pulse?
Everybody moves it well against other teams *at times*. It’s real life football, not PlayStation. Those guys are also on scholarship and getting NIL and their coaches also make millions to figure out how to move the football.
UGA gave up 41 to Bama, 31 to Miss St, 20 to FL (more than we did), 28 to Ole Miss, 21 to UMass, and a whopping 42 to GT that could’ve been more if not for the weird OT rules. Are Kirby and Schumann bad defensive coaches?
Listen to yourselves. We just had one of the best defenses in the country, and had one of the best years in the last two decades, after being left for dead as a program just 4 years ago, and you all want to fire coaches.Kirby fired Chaney after going to a national championship and having the best rushing attack with I’m pretty sure the best season ever for two RBs on the same team. And they upgraded and won two natty’s. It’s possible for Heupel to do the same
Farragut Park was pretty well lit up. Not too far off the interstate.Question for you folks that live in the Knoxville area. A few days ago a few mentioned a street or neighborhood with some incredible Christmas lights. We will be traveling through Knoxville on our way to Bristol soon and thought we may check them out if near the interstate.
Did you not watch that game. That’s what having an elite offensive coordinator/offense looked like against our best defense in the past decade. And our defense is not gonna have half the talent it had this year on the dline…Listen to yourselves. We just had one of the best defenses in the country, and had one of the best years in the last two decades, after being left for dead as a program just 4 years ago, and you all want to fire coaches.
This place is like hanging out at Chuckee Cheese. You have to listen to kids cry and scream their toddler-logic, and will likely get another case of chicken pox for the trouble.
What's he saying?
Are you suggesting that we should agree with you?can we all just agree something needs to change on offense? as for the Banks crap, his defenses have gotten progressively better each year, talent has gotten worlds better. And they continue to recruit well there. Seems Banks is a better GM than his peer.
fact: Huepel likes offense.
fact: he is competitive as hell
fact: we have won 10 games, twice
He is smart. He knows our deficiencies.
If its money they need, i'm sure (I hope) Spyre will be our banging the war bond drum, again.
My point is let's see how things unfold. Truthfully as much as WE can see the line issues, WR issues, hastily firing Pope and Smellherfeet, would be disastrous.
Also, those guys had a hand in 10 win season. If it were me, i'd have a detailed plan in place, with goals and objectives (expectations) outlined for them. That may be too micro managey, but, what happened in 2024 to offense cannot go on. Offense is literally regressing. There is no excuse.
Trust Huepel. I dont envy him to have to make decisions, as is issues when you hire friends. Really think answer to OL is getting recruiting help for Ellarbee. Same for Pope.
On Halzle, those saying the routes are vanilla, play calling is bad, etc etc. May be on to something. Will be interesting to see what happens.
One thing is for sure, they need to attack the porthole. Need to ensure we dont put any players on peddle stools, and Nico maintains pocket presents at all times.
Teams with offensive talent like Bama, UGA, and OSU are gonna get theirs. Some nights you’ve just got to have the firepower to keep up. That’s what cost us more than the D did this year. The offense won those games tho, it's not like he got big stops.
Florida this year is another. The offense won that one too.
