Recruiting Football Talk VIII

I see your point, but my point is that in the new age of college football, with the NIL and all the other things that come with it (ie 10% performance fee and Spyre, etc.) that TN is supposedly doing to up the ante, we shouldn’t be sitting at 6th-8th place. Especially if that means we’re behind Florida, who’s one less sexual harassment case away from firing their coach, or A&M, who’s little brother to the crappier shade of orange team.

I’m not expecting overnight results, but if this list is true, then it’s unacceptable with all the other stuff we’ve been sold as it relates to NIL.

We will never get ahead of A&M - they have untold gobs of money. Anyone who can pay a coach $80m to go away is unstoppable.

I think this next era of SEC football will be dominated by the Texas schools.

But I think we should be even with the next tier - Georgia, Florida, Alabama, etc.

Next year is a come to Jesus moment for Heupel’s regime. Coach Heupel HAS to have another offensive mind join the staff, come in and change some things. Preferably someone who is a Qb coach too.

Either he can choke to be a “ stubborn OC”married to his system no matter what, or he can become an elite head coach who always adjusting and ready to do what’s best to fulfill his job as head coach.

People who say its unsportsmanlike to beat up on lesser teams, aren't competitive. its fun, it's cathartic, and what the heart needed. OSwho?

They’ve lost to weaker teams and barely scraped by against others. This is their first matchup against a Power 4 opponent all season. Weston, MTSU’s top scorer tonight, isn’t even a starter. Still, it’s a good test for the Vols. Being the No. 1 team doesn’t mean you can just walk onto the court and expect to win.
Bradley is expected to win their conference, Murray State and Belmont a perennial title contenders in their conferences and have been to the tournament numerous times in their history.

MTSU has a history of being a very good mod major in their own right. Won a couple tournament games in recent memory, multiple 20 win seasons and knocked off plenty of P5's along the way.

They had good athletes with some good shot making ability.

But I know, people's definitions of "good" are all over the place.

But uh, they certainly aren't bad. They played extremely well tonight against THE BEST. Pretty sure that means they're pretty good at basketball.

Really? only Coach in modern history besides Fulmer to win 30 Games in 3 years taking over a dumpster fire and in trouble by NCAA in there Jail house which hurt first 2 years recruiting. He has taken his roster each year and won and yes we all want to get to Elite Level but lets give him time as recruiting is getting better and these last 2 classes we have signed serious talent that will start to pay dividends. Patience Vol Nation. It will come.
In CHRIST Alone

It seems to me that when we're playing lesser teams, we can pretty much get away with running whatever offensive plays we want. However, when we're playing elite teams, the fact that we generally ignore the middle 40% of the field in the passing game comes back to bite us in the ass with a wound the size of Jaws' attack victims.
