Biggest thing I see here is on the R side Carnell Tate also had McCoy smoked off the line - just ran right by him - and Howard could’ve went there for a TD as well. Our dudes just couldn’t cover their dudes.
Love Heupel and think he will adapt. But as a young coach, he has to cover up these tells and holes. Don’t want to be a sunshine pumper, but excited to see how he adapts next year - I think the competitor in him will force him to get uncomfy and find some new kinks in the offense.
Didn’t read all that, but not sure who you’re yapping at with all this. Literally said I rock w Heup in the post. If you think Sampson was the difference in us hanging close and getting spanked, good luck to ya.Wasted 15 minutes of my life watching Ohios Taint clowns yap to find out what he actually said:
1. The only thing he references that they KNEW what the play was gonna be was the speed option play on 3rd down where Nico pitched the ball. They apparently noticed a tendency that if we see a certain look on defense on 3rd down and a particular distance that we like to call that play. OK. It happens. It means that we probably did that 2 or 3 times already this season on 3rd and short/medium and they saw it coming. Oh well. It happens. People forget that we lost the SEC MVP Sampson at RB after only 2 carries for 6 yards. No way in Hell we win this game vs a more talented team without him.
2. Between carries and sacks, Nico got tackled WITH the ball 20 times in this game. Cracked not 1 but 2 helmets. Still impressed anyone who was watching. OSU players and national media guys have all said this repeatedly. Dude is tough as a 10cent steak. We are lucky to have him.
3. That was by FAR the most talented defense we faced all year. Much moreso even that UGA. All American safeties. 2 of them of that caliber. Their defense has more NFL players than ours does...and we had a top 6 defense nationally in every stat that matters while playing in the SEC.
We played a team with 10 more 5* players, 20+ more 4* players, THE best WR corps in college football and a top 5 defense in THEIR house without our best offensive player and the leading rusher in the SEC. Of course we lost this game without Sampson. It was an uphill battle even with him. I am proud of our team, our season, know how lucky we are to have this staff and be nationally relevant 4 years after being left for dead as a program by the NCAA and everyone else. Merry Christmas and GO VOLS

The NCAA has been effectively eliminated from any enforcement ability by the courts. With no rules in place it’s going to rapidly move to the golden rule. Who has the gold rules. We have a rabid fan base but we just don’t stack up very well with a lot of universities when it comes to super wealthy alumni. We got a head start with Spyre but are being passed up by more wealthy schools. Alabama is fading as a result. The NCAA was a terrible organization so they somewhat got what they deserved but you have to have some rules or it just becomes chaos. Not sure how you fix it now but it’s on a dangerous path of long time fans checking out. It’s absolutely professional sports now and that’s indisputable.Might as well abolish the NCAA for football. It’s the National Collegiate Football League at this point. We will see the day that a super league is made up of the SEC and Big 10. With some top ACC and Big 12 teams included
The only way to fix it would be to honestly make that super league it sucks but that’s the answer. Make someone or a a group the commissioner(s). Set salary caps so everyone is on a level playing field. Trade deadlines (for in season) and free agency (transfer portal/off season) . Just basically copy the NFL script at this point but fine tune it the best to college athletics. No one’s gonna like but we already here. Might as well clean it up and actually get some actual rules, regulations, and blueprint for all this garbage. The NCAA has been effectively eliminated from any enforcement ability by the courts. Kevin was actually talking about how his dad used to post on VQ when he was filling in for Swain on his radio show.
I honestly don’t know the solution but I think we are headed to something similar to what you’re describing. It just gets me all up in my feels thinking about it. The NCAA was corrupt and incompetent so it’s not like the last 20 years was some panacea. I graduated from UT in 85 so I’m older and have memories from the 70s when it was largely fair and the players were actually student athletes and not mercenaries going to the highest bidder yearly. Things change so I guess we either adapt or die.The only way to fix it would be to honestly make that super league it sucks but that’s the answer. Make someone or a a group the commissioner(s). True I’m young almost 30 so I’ll never fully know what true college football really was. Since the BCS inception when we won the natty till now this greed and money obsession has corrupted and rotted out this sport and many others. Honestly all the pro leagues suck as well. All these big money contracts have smooth brained these players. No heart, grit, or toughness in sports anymore. All buddy buddy we’re all best friends in the league vibes. I want to go back to everyone hating anyone that wasn’t on their team and on any given chance their might be a fight that’s about to break out. But “it’s gone forever…. Aaron Hernandez”I honestly don’t know the solution but I think we are headed to something similar to what you’re describing. It just gets me all up in my feels thinking about it.
