Recruiting Football Talk VIII

As I get a little older I look back at times when I was having a problem I couldn't see a way to fix. There were times I thought I tried everything, but just reached a dead end and figured it was simply out of my hands. Then, out of nowhere, an answer lands in my lap and I would say, "I can't believe it was that easy." I've experienced my fair share of true miracles, enough to know there is someone or something besides us in control of things. I'm in the middle of one of the biggest challenges I've ever faced, but I know there will be an answer if I just keep going forward.

Today and everyday I am thankful for all I have and have been given. I appreciate each of you, even the ones on ignore, 😂. Thank God for all I've seen, and all I have.

Love you all, Merry Christmas, Go Vols!

52, please dont take this as condescension.

I always worked in Christmas so others could be with families. Service and retail for over a decade. Ive been on both sides. I get it, people dont want to cook. People have to take care of them.

But an arcade?
Well when I was a youngster families cooked at home and other family members brought cooked items as well. I worked Christmas every year for 25 years and everyone of those days were horrible for me. But to each their own..

Hit the treadmill for a 350 cal burn and trying to find the motivation to whip out the bench... For those that aren't aware...

In April I was at 236 lbs and slightly feeling down after recovering from bruised ribs in my old man soccer league. Decided to get my ass in gear. I'm down to 190 without any shots. Just being more aware of calorie intake and exercising with two goals in mind:
Improve the abysmal mile time of 11:45
Get under 200 lbs

When one plateaued, the other improved. I'm at:
8:20 for a mile
190lbs. New goal is 175 and then the scale won't be a focus.

That's been why I've been absent a lot this year.

Happy Chrismas Eve.

December 24, 2024: Make today a day of forgiveness for those who have sinned against you. Prepare yourself to be free of agitation and resentment so that you can enjoy the true meaning of Christmas. Jesus Christ was born, lived, and died to give us everlasting life in Him. Let your best gift to others be that of freedom from your own wrath. Matthew 6:14-15 For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

As a individual who was in Management at Denny's for 25 years I completely agree with you. Numerous times on Christmas Day I mumbled to myself"when the hell did families quit eating at home on Christmas" 😳😳😳

I remember back in the day when I used to have to cut the head off of a Chinese duck and sing "Deck the harrs with bowers of horry, Fa Ra Ra Ra Ra" to some idiots that forgot to shut their door and had their turkey eaten by the Bumpuses dogs.

That's awesome. That's, er, my goal is to get back in gym in 2025. Very happy for you, you made a great decision. Research shows 1:4 or 1:5 per lb of weight gained: lb of stress placed on lower body.

My body wants to run. I crave the feeling of sweating and exercise. But my knees just wont allow.

Also at my healthiest, Applebees Grilled Chicken Caesar salad.

Well said Enki. The reality is griping about the football team losing a GAME is small potatoes in relation to what’s really important. It’s pretty ironic that we are currently the MOST SUCCESSFUL SCHOOL IN ALL COLLEGE SPORTS and it’s been the legion of the miserable since Saturday night. Everyone wants to win but only one team gets that when the season is over. I simply will not gripe about winning 10 games and qualifying for the playoffs. Part of that is age and understanding priorities and what’s important. Telling rich people they need to pay college kids whatever they want so we can win a football game just isn’t on my bingo card. It’s their money maybe they want to invest in something with a higher value. I’m putting mine into my church and not on prima Donna college kids. If someone else wants to give millions to NIL that’s great. I just get tired of the screaming that Heupel won’t spend money to buy players. You have to have it to spend it. Merry Christmas and remember the reason for the season.

Thanks bud. What helped me was making small choices with the food I already eat. Saying no mayo, out of the three options I'm in the mood for... picking the lowest calorie, limit to coke zero or the equivalent, they eventually add up and I aim between 1200 and 1500 calories a day. Sometimes it goes above but that's ok if it's not the norm. I try to hit 1000 burned per day in activity per my watchs calculations. It's starting to level now that I'm lifting to a point of failing a rep at 8-12.

That's how to do it.

Before Covid, was back in a rythym of 5 AM lifts, then breakfast for the littles. Gave up my gym membership when our son was born in 2019. Oh, ill work out at home.

Little by little...

And mayo sucks.

Refs and tv powers will do anything they can to have bama in playoffs next year
Bama plus refs every game gonna be tough for them to lose
Then why didn't they do it this year?

Why didn't they do it for UGA last year? Or Bama the year before that?

"Bama plus refs every game gonna be tough for them to lose" Don't y'all say the refs already help them to go undefeated every year? Sure didn't help em in Norman when it was all on the line and the most egregious call went against Bama. Can't believe OU was "allowed" to win...

I don't know about at Bama... gonna lose what little offense they had and really don't know if DeBoer will be as capable to reload as Saban was losing 14 in portal as of now and just 5 incoming, they do have the 2nd ranked class though...but will be breaking in a first year starter at QB either way at this point.
Yeah I'm feeling pretty good @bama.

Let's not forget Milton had them down a couple score in Tuscaloosa before our best defender went down and things went south.

But it is not the scary beast it used to be.

Calling @UF a loss is way too soon. It's a coinflip spread rn imo.

Not really. Sabans last team was always going to get in. This year's team still has the Saban rub. The farther they get from him the less they get that advantage. DeBoer really needs a couple big runs the next 2 years or that privilege will shrink.

Let's just hope Heupel learns how to coach big games on the road by then.

2022 expected (reg season) wins: 9.2
Actual: 10

2023 expected (reg season) wins: 8.6
Actual: 9

2024 expected (reg season) wins: 8.8
Actual: 10

Way too early 2025 expected (reg season) wins: 9.3
The schedule is soft. We have 2 hard games next year and a coin flip.
Anything less than that 9 number and we have a problem.

Did we not just easily win the biggest game in TN history since 2001...on the road and under the largest of pressures?

Otherwise we're just talking "road games vs top 3 talent teams...at night"...well guess what? No one fares well in those.

UGA hasn't lost at home in years...to anyone. It's almost like beating a top 3 talent, on the road, and (often night games) is very very tough for anyone to do. Let alone with this level of talent gap. Which is why we need time before judging those much. The talent gap closure is on its way, but we were 17th this year. Patience.
