Recruiting Football Talk VIII

I had a revelation last night. We bought an authentic Nico jersey for our son this year for Christmas. I see rumors about Nico and was mad. I don’t think I will buy player jerseys again. I’m sure people will still buy them, but this stuff actually hurts player’s NIL by not buying their merchandise. Loyalty can get you somewhere in life.
Yeah but if the player stays, gift accomplished.

If the player leaves, you get to set the jersey on fire with your boy. Honestly, most young kids would find that even more fun 😅

So…rumor has it Nico and his dad met with Heupel yesterday to discuss the OL and WR as they both aren’t happy with it (both being nico and his dad). Also, apparently Nico visited Miami and Oregon during the season
So this is coming from Sean Sparks and the facebook page he runs. I'm not judging, just curious. What do our insiders think? He legit?

Easily our most productive wide receiver, Thornton, would have been a #2 or #3 wide receiver on a team with a good to great WR room.
Idk about that. Thornton looks a lot better when the QB actually has time to get him the ball. A lot of these "elite" wr rooms are elite because of the OL & QB.

Man, I was so excited when NIL was implemented. It was a long time coming. Now, with what CFB has become, I freaking hate it. I don't really blame anyone. It's simply that the game is changed forever and will never be the same. That makes me sad.
NIL has little to do with it. It's unlimited portal transfers enacted last Summer.

If NIL wasn't even a thing and the portal was wide open...you'd have the exact same thing happening, just old school payments under the table.

But if you have legal payments with reasonable freedom of movement standards (preferrably based on contracts), rather than the unlimited portal, then you'd have....the same structure every major sport has already figured out is the best one.

If there's a great history and governmental lesson in all of this it is:

The laws of the US are well on the side of open freedom for individuals and against collusion of major entities trying to control the market for said individuals.

AND

Since we still need structure and stability in society and pure freedom can be too difficult for humans to manage or enjoy, contracts are the solution for individuals to secure some guarantees, while forefeiting some freedom.

He was literally the best player on our side of the field vs OSU.

How many times could that be said about JG, Tyler Bray etc. though?

Best player when you’re getting waxed doesn’t mean anything.

Answer this honestly, how many games did Nico win for us this year? I mean he’s not really lived up to the hype or money invested yet that’s an objective statement too.
