Any job is a step up if they’re offering more $$$. Loyalty and optics are gone if the Benjamins are more.I don't care if we lose Banks, I just don't like the optics being presented as if these jobs are better than Tennessee. The ACC is a weak-ass wannabe conference. In no way is going from the SEC to the ACC a "step up". It's a step back.
Oh yeah, I agree. I have zero expectations that they'll hire a proven, innovative DC.I say this because I don't foresee us replacing him with someone better when he leaves. Kinda like losing Golesh.
Banks is not the best DC in the world. He's also not a bad DC.
He's a very good DC and he's improved. He's proven he can be a better play caller and can coach at this level. He's also shown he understands how to call a game based on the personnel that he has rather than being stubborn to his preferences (i.e. blitzing constantly early in career when we were bad on D and couldn't play straight up, and this year calling fewer blitzes and letting everyone match up on most plays).
I think he's still improving and will soon be one of the best in the game and we won't have him 3-4 years from now. He will be a D1 HC.
I was never going away...I just don't wanna deal with the Idiot Margin anymore, and they have infested the place. A lot of folks think I just like to argue, but to be honest, the older I get, the less I wanna have long drawn out arguments with idiots....and the less I even want to see and hear their stupidity...especially the ones that think they are uber intelligent.Same can be said about the best state in the union, Tennessee, but I’m very biased. I’ve lived all over the southern states and a few in yankee country and lived out of the country for a bit. When it came time for me to raise my child, I chose God’s country. Yes I know that wasn’t what you were posting about, but I just had to throw that up. On a side note. When I was 12 to 15, crap was a way of life for me. I swore I’d leave Tennessee the first chance I got and never look back. Blah, blah…I did at age 16 and bounced awhile with my family. When we were living in Jamaica at the time, I got bored (idiot ), went to college. I still wasn’t happy so that’s when I ended up in the Navy. Blah blah, living in Arkansas with my husband and pregnant, I wanted to go back home to live and raise my son. That’s how ole ORB ended back up here. Sorry, long winded. It sure is great to see you post again. Please stay.
What exactly did he say? Did he literally say that God is on their side and willed them to victory?? I didn't see it, so I don't know what he said. It's pretty telling to believe a god or demigod would care anything about your little sport...entertainment, let alone your specific team, on 1 single planet...out of trillions. It doesn't. It's like believing god favored your film to win an Oscar
It also seems demeaning to your own self and team. As if you needed interference from the highest power in the universe...and isn't that cheating?
Folks really take the cake when it comes to ego. Sure think they're the center of the universe.
I think this year was the inverse of 2022. In 22, Heupel/Golesh could play how they wanted and Banks had to make gameplans based on personnel. Wasn't going to be pretty, but just do what they could. This year, Banks could call a game with luxury while Heupel/Halze had to compromise and just do what they could. It was ugly on offense.Oh yeah, I agree. I have zero expectations that they'll hire a proven, innovative DC.
Until this year I would have said I want the DC version of Heupel but the O has been less than impressive compared to 2022.

Eventually it will eclipse and be beautiful. There's also some odds that it'll eclipse the other way and be ugly. Then you'll have years like 2023 where it was respectable on both sides but not great.

I will always especially love east Tennessee, and the Appalachian range as a whole, it is truly absolutely beautiful...but the great majestic landscapes of the west absolutely blow my mind and fill my heart with awe.
