Recruiting Football Talk VIII

What does it say about us when reporters act like becoming the DC of an ACC team would be a "step up"? FFS, he's supposedly in the running for both Miami and Clemson? Are we really that undesirable a place to be?? This **** pisses me off.
What does it say about the media is the better question.

I remember during baseball season when they were like “this announcer can’t hide how much he wants UT to lose”.

The announcer was….. Chris Burke 😂
Yea, kinda humorous especially when he is a Ex Tennessee Vols baseball player. Just proves to me many never kept up with Baseball until CTV showed up.

hard to believe we wouldnt pay. we have the money. always thought he was happy here?
He might be getting sick of the Idiot Margin dogging him no matter how well the defense plays. I mean he put a top 6 in all of CFB defense on the field and half the fanbase still hates him.

It’s obvious Banks doesn’t want I be here IF he takes a DC job elsewhere, he could’ve signed his extension when it became obvious a HC gig wasn’t happening.
He just put a top 10 defense on the field 4 years after inheriting one of the worst in all of CFB...with steady improvement every year.

He is obviously trying to maximize his earnings.

If he leaves for similar pay...then screw him.

Oh yeah, I agree. I have zero expectations that they'll hire a proven, innovative DC.

Until this year I would have said I want the DC version of Heupel but the O has been less than impressive compared to 2022.
Yeah...Heupel is a sucky play caller...he suddenly forgot how to coach.

Funny how that happens when you don't get great QB play.

I remember that...when you pointed that out they said he was just going vadly overboard just trying to prove he isn't a homer.

I was never going away...I just don't wanna deal with the Idiot Margin anymore, and they have infested the place. A lot of folks think I just like to argue, but to be honest, the older I get, the less I wanna have long drawn out arguments with idiots....and the less I even want to see and hear their stupidity...especially the ones that think they are uber intelligent.

I will always especially love east Tennessee, and the Appalachian range as a whole, it is truly absolutely beautiful...but the great majestic landscapes of the west absolutely blow my mind and fill my heart with awe.
If the governments out there weren't so ****ed, i'd agree with you. Maybe Idaho or Montana, but none of the others.

I think next season is a 9-3 type year...but that the 2026 season we will make the playoffs with a better team than this year and a real shot to win.

We are gonna be young next year at WR, Oline, LB, and RB to a lesser extent. 9-3 is the most likely result but the vegas over/under will be 8wins instead of 8.5like this year. In 2026 we will be more experienced and talented at every position. McCoy will be a senior. Nicos last year. The 5 really good WRs we have now will be juniors and sophs. Lewis and Bishop will be juniors/seniors. 2026 sets up really nice. Next season will be a lot of gaining experience on Oline, WR, and especially at LB.
I could see that. Will be tough to beat Georgia, get Bama in Tuscaloosa, and the Swamp is going to be a challenge next year. Oklahoma will be improved imo. Syracuse will probably be better than NC State was.

I also see Nico needing mid-to-late 2025 until he breaks out and really takes command. 2026 being first full season of stardom.

Nico won’t be here in 2026. I almost guarantee he goes to the draft.

It depends on how next year goes obviously. I saw a clear jump in quality of play the final few games this year but nothing that truly wowed me. With the right pieces and a quality OL then he should be able to ball out and get drafted next year. I just am not confident that will happen until at least mid-season.

I hope so. Right now the puzzle pieces are scattered. Let’s see if it comes together. Can’t afford to lose many more pieces and expect to built back a contender.

The way I understood it was that some pieces didn’t fit and we are getting stronger pieces to replace them.

Mostly in regards to scholarship reduction.

If we OL, get a receiver or 2 and some depth at linebacker I believe next year will be a better year than what we had.
