Recruiting Football Talk VIII

I’ll agree with some of that. Trying not to make much of it. But it’s the offseason 😜

But an analysts isn’t hired to support what you’re doing, but identify blind spots, weaknesses, inject new ideas.

Again, no idea what Landry brings to the table. But I don’t agree with you that analysts are hired to be yes men and support. Very much disagree.
So which one of those did that for Ohio State, Georgia and Oregon? Any names? Who’s the secret sauce behind Chip Kelly’s playcalling? Maybe we can poach him (or her)? Disagree all you like, but analysts are classified as support staff…because they ARE. Harbin has emerged as a recruiting star, but you honestly believe he affects what Rodney stresses in the classroom and field? We blaming Militello or Milton for Nico not duplicating HH? Analysts and GAs are crucial for practice and drills. Instilling basic fundamentals for a scheme that’s already implemented and learning what goes into such themselves for their coaching journey. Long way from “yes men” but even further from on-field coaches and coordinators. Think of it in military terms. Your NCOs help your soldiers complete their mission. But GENERALS confer with OFFICERS for strategy.

What’s your point? The 7 points difference.
So equal talent?
Banks has to be better?

That Clemson is by far the most talented team in the ACC based on team composite rankings and they gave up a TD more per game than Vols did.

Including postseason, Vols played 5 teams with more talented rosters than their own. Clemson played 2. One of those was TX (ranked 4th in talent) while Clemson is ranked 5th. Vols are ranked 17th.

According to team composite rankings, we do not have equal talent.

Analysts help position coaches with their groups and some analyst help with game planning. I know one senior offensive analyst who meets with his OC before the final play call sheet is finalized and printed for offensive staff. He suggests changes and discusses trick plays and 2point plays. During games he is uses analytics to recommend strategies for 4th downs, field goals and punting.

God is not a god or a demigod. He is the God of Abraham. God of living, Yahweh. Also couldn't care less about football or oscar's
I'd say that if the outcome of a game/career was useful to his ultimate plan, He'd care. Romans 8 says that He'll work ALL thing out for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purposes. I'd say He has the freedom and interest to use any and all conceivable circumstances to do so.

If an easy, successful football career with lots of income would be good for His calling on someone's life, He may help that along. Or conversely, if all that would inhibit their good, His glory, and His plan, he may choose not to bless it. He's the heavenly FATHER to some of us. He's better at it than I have been a father, and even I put my fingers on the scales when it came to my kids, either encouraging or discouraging, depending on how it would either benefit or hurt them and their development.

Who was it? I think I heard a testimony from... was it Crompton? That he was humbled to the point of salvation due to his QB struggles. (I may have the wrong name there, but it was through the team chaplain, whomever it was.)

Someone who just started following Vol football in 2022…

Preston Williams, Justin Hunter, Da'Rick Rogers, CP, Deanthony Arnett...all somewhat similar recruits. CP is the only player I would have hated to not have in hindsight and a healthy Justin Hunter 😢 . Rogers was okay but not worth the headache, no idea what Arnett did when he left but I'm guessing nothing, P Williams was talented and had a few flashes iirc but didn't produce in college or the NFL.

That happens at every program where the fans give two $&¡7s. We are far from the first fanbase to call for coaches to be fired. OSU wanted Day gone 2 weeks ago to the point several of them didn’t even show up to the first college playoff game in Columbus.
Yah. People have abused others many times in the past, because they see it as the correct way to "give a ****". Doesn't make it the right way just because it's common and emotional.

Rogers wasn’t worth the headache because we were loaded at WR. But Rogers would have changed this year’s offense completely.

I have spoken to 2 OSU fans over the past month. First one, who is my friend, said he didn't care if they lost to us because he wanted Ryan Day fired. Second was yesterday, a complete stranger, and he said he didn't care about winning the rest of the games because he just wanted Ryan Day fired. Ryan Day consistently wins 10+ games a year and is national title contender. I can't comprehend hating Michigan THAT much.

So he’s an intern.

Not sure he would have made that large of an impact but he could have been a good player with the right coach. It's been a while though so I don't remember how much potential he may have had. His team and coaches were pathetic though so that didn't help. Don't recall if he had injuries or anything as well. That 2012 roster that he should have been a part of was loaded on offense. I'd love to have seen what Heupel could have done with that offense.

Preston Williams had a huge final season for the Colorado State Rams, 96 catches 1345 yards and 14 TDs, signed as an undrafted free agent with the Dolphins and was on the team for 3 seasons. he's not in the CFL though with Montreal.

Justin Hunter had a good final season here, got drafted in the 2nd round too... a big time "what if" case had he not gotten hurt in 2011. He was averaging 105 yards a game until then.

Da'Rick flamed out as expected sadly.

CP still in the league and sadly we only had 'em for one season.

Arnett is an interesting case, spent 4 years at Michigan State and in those 4 years he had just 12 catches and 193 yards with 2 TDs. His one year with the Vols, 24 catches 242 yards and 2 TDs... made a bad move
