I mean, it's the NFL. If you don't have a generational QB (Chiefs, Bills, Ravens), an elite history and overall organization (Packers), or a great head coach (Steelers, now Lions), you just kinda have to wait your turn to be good and hope the stars align for a few seasons. No one stays on top for long without those things. The Titans have at least proven that they can be good every once in a while with the Vrabel/Tannehill/Henry run, so it's not like they're the Browns and just forever doomed to suck.I have Titans fatigue and walked away after the Levis draft.
They have had - what has felt like - a steep slide in recent years. I’ve been annoyed by personnel moves, poor execution on the field, and a general malaise around the organization.
Saw your stat above and decided to shorten that window to the past 10 yrs.
Sure enough, Titans are sub .500 in that stretch. But then I saw that only 15 teams across the NFL are above .500 in that stretch, and only the top four teams are above .600 winning pct. That’s wild. Small handful of teams finding real, sustained success in the league.
Since 2020, Titans are 20th in the league in win pct, but you look at the teams below them (incl Wash, Houston, ATL, Denver, Ariz, etc) and you see teams that are trending much better than the Titans. Just hard to invest time and resources into a franchise that is trending toward mediocrity.
It's funny you mention the Falcons because they utterly choked away a playoff spot this season. My brother is a huge Falcons fan and has been miserable since 28-3. If Penix isn't the answer, and we'll find out once teams have an offseason to study him, they aren't in any better shape than the Titans moving forward.
