Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Random thought and I may have just missed it:

Did Bru ever declare for the draft? I know he accepted a Senior Bowl invite but is that still technically “declaring”? I know a lot of people have speculated he might return but I never saw any confirmation of him declaring or not

When the hell did office chairs get so expensive???

Also, does anybody have recommendations on office chairs
I recommend sitting on each one and then let your back decide.

Funny thing is that I bought a new office chair from an office furniture store and likely paid too much. A few year later and I saw a chair in Costco, sat in it and it was way more comfortable than the other one. I bought it. It was $100.00. That is still my office chair 15 years later. I hardly ever use it anymore as my clinic is so busy that I get to use my office for a quick lunch and some quiet time.

There's a LOT more to Idaho than Boise. Everything North of this kid is some of the most beautiful country in the world imo
Drove from Boise to Yellowstone a few months ago. The high dessert/Snake River Plain is nice, just doesn’t wow me like Oregon and Montana. We did stop and see Craters of the Moon, which was cool.

Of the places I’ve been in the U.S., I think the most beautiful are Oregon, Montana, and the Appalachian area of VA/NC/TN. Parts of Northern California are gorgeous too.

Still a chance the new GM advises they get a new coach. I am certain several will say as much during the interview process.

That said, the Adams family needs to sell the team. If they truly loved the franchise they'd do it.
I would let Mortica and Gomez run the show. They have pretty good business acumen. 😎

I was almost 5 and remember watching this game with my mom and dad like it was yesterday.
We had burgers and lemon-ice-box pie.

The Cowboys struck first when Roger Staubach zeroed in on Drew Pearson for a 29-yard touchdown pass.

Before the end of the quarter, Pittsburgh evened the score on a seven-yard pass from Terry Bradshaw to tight end Randy Grossman. Setting up the score was a 32-yard pass to Lynn Swann, whose health was questionable because of a concussion he had suffered in the AFC Championship Game. Swann out-leaped a Dallas defender, then magically kept both feet inside the sideline to make his catch.
Dallas reclaimed the lead at 10-7 only 15 seconds into the second quarter when Toni Fritsch booted a 36-yard field goal.

Defense continued to dominate in the scoreless third quarter. Pittsburgh sacked Staubach seven times during the game and forced him to scramble on numerous occasions. Moreover, they pressured him into an uncharacteristic 3 interceptions.

One of the interceptions set up another field-goal try by Gerela, but he pulled it left from 33 yards. Dallas safety Cliff Harris mockingly patted him on the helmet, only to be unceremoniously dumped on his hip pads by irate Pittsburgh linebacker Jack Lambert. The inspired Steelers dominated after that.

In the fourth quarter, Steelers reserve fullback Reggie Harrison blocked Mitch Hoopes's punt. The ball rolled through the end zone for a safety to cut the Cowboys' lead to 10-9. Gerela, who'd donned a corset to protect his ribs, regained his kicking touch with field goals of 36 and 18 yards to put the Steelers in front 15-10.

With 3:02 left in the game, Bradshaw lofted a long pass to game MVP Swann, who caught the ball at the five and took it over the goal line to complete a 64-yard lightning strike. Swann finished the day with 161 yards on four catches, a 40.3 average-per-catch. Gerela missed the extra point.

It took Staubach only 1:14 to get the touchdown back, completing a drive with a 34-yard bulls-eye to Percy Howard—former Austin Peay State University basketball player---- the only pass Howard caught during his entire career.

Terry Hanratty replaced Bradshaw, still woozy from the hit suffered after his touchdown pass to Swann, but the Steelers were stalled on a fourth-and-9 at the Dallas 41 with almost a minute and a half to go. Coach Noll feared a blocked kick and called for a Rocky Bleier run that gained only 2 yards. Noll was gambling that his defense could stop the Cowboys.

Trailing only 21-17, Staubach had the ball back with more time than he usually needed to negotiate 61 yards. The Cowboys reached Pittsburgh's 38. With five seconds left, Staubach launched his final pass into the end zone. Steelers Mike Wagner batted the ball, which was caught by the Steelers, Glen Edwards and the Steelers had their second consecutive Super Bowl victory.

Not mine. I wish. I just trained him and helped breed the owners other corso’s. Had like 4-5 adults plus puppies at all times.

Forgot the other 2.

The family offered a puppy to me for free from his litter, but I already have enough pets.

Thinking about it, I should’ve taken the puppy. She sells them for $3000-$4000 a pop lol
My dream dog but I only do rescues and they don’t ever need rescued for the obvious $ tag they bring.

Yes but was asked to look around. Heupel likes Pope. Injuries hurt this year and QB overthrows have hurt numbers. Yes the guys that transferred out they missed on evaluation to SEC Level but again happens to every school at every position even Oh St at WR they just recruit so many highly ranked kids odds even out for you. So let's keep pushing upper echelon of WR Recruiting and we too will be happy with results. In CHRIST Alone
WR Drops were a much bigger issue than overthrows.

Both were issues though. Last year’s offense seemed like whack a mole. At one part of the year, it was overthrows, then it was drops, then it was protection…

Hopefully, 2025 is a different story.

Slow processing (or not trusting what he was seeing) dabbled in as well. The pass game was poo all year

How you feelin' about Saturday 🍊🏀, @VolsDoc81TX ?
Always horns down.

I was very disappointed with ohio state. Looked like a letdown game for them rather than the longhorns being better than Oregon or Tennessee. I am thinking the ohio state will slaughter notre dame.
