Also, Mizzou's defense isn't that bad. They have Richardson on the DL that could be a 1st round pick. The have Ebner at LB and he's playing really well. UT needs Neal back and at 100%.

He's trying to change things during game 10. He said that he is in the d meetings now and that he is getting everyone the opportunity to give their input. He should've done this 4 or 5 weeks ago. IMO he's not very smart if he's just now getting to this decision.

Peterson has not bitten on any offer yet. Every year, teams come at him, and he doesn't even entertain it, to the best of my knowledge. I do not believe Patterson would even glance either. Strong would take a look, IMO.

I know we will most likely pony up the $$, and the roster looks much better than years before, but I am so used to being let down as a fan, I cannot help but think we are going to get some Defensive Coordinator from North Dakota State, or something.

I need a bottle of rootbeer.

I seen a 247 sports link saying Patterson is open to leaving TCU but I don't remember where I seen it I'll do some digging and try and find it.

JMO but they also need to try and scrap the 100% no huddle. It is certainly hurting the defense. Justin Coleman told VQ that he played 102 snaps last game. That's a huge problem.

I would bring Conklin down and let him coach and adjust. JMO. And I also would leave #9 in at corner. I know he had some boneheaded plays but its so stupid to put a frosh (in his 1st career start) on an island with no help or safety over the top.

Anytime a team is running the spread you can't run 0 coverage. Gray needs to continue to start though. The kid can only get better. #23 won't gain anything with experience.

I also find it dumb that we only have two guys(Gordon and Toney) playing the Nickel. I may not like Waggner but he's better than both of them there. This makes no sense to me.

I agree with you. But Dooley already shot this one down. He said the offense is clicking too good to make any major adjustments to it. And Coleman wouldn't of had about 80 snaps if the defense could hold their own on 3rd down.

Yep, we're watching him learn on the job. These kinds of things are going to happen when you hire a guy with barely any head coaching experience.

I would agree with you if our defense was just bad late in the game, but our defense sucks all the time, which to me says that we just need to go with whatever works best for our offense because no matter what we do we are going to have to overcome our defense.

This. I don't understand either. I have seen PW make some nice plays from the nickel in his 4 years at UT. Can't hurt to mix it up ATP.

I would argue that part of the reason the D sucks is time of posession. It's out of hand. We're running the ball too well to not at least try to help the D get some time off the field.

I agree that is part of the reason, but how significant of a part is it really? Troy marched the opening drive of the game on us right down the field, and then did the same on their first drive in the second half.

TOP is critical to controlling the game and allowing for in game adjustments on defense. I am not advocating that the team abandon the no huddle competely. I just want them to show me the ability to change gears when necessary.

A.Nichols committed to Memphis incase you haven't heard.. Something tells me this isn't over, but it will be an up hill battle for UT
Edit:for bball

We have a no huddle offense that sometimes gets very up tempo, but We've out up many 10-14 play drives that are 4-6 minutes long out of it.

I'd like to see us keep the same no huddle but just run the ball twice and pass once through 3 downs. We still use the majority of the play clock most times. It's when we get too pass happy that we get off the field too quick and hurt the D.

Also, everyone and their moms know we're running play action on first down if we've been having any success running the ball.

This is what I was saying 2 or 3 weeks ago.

Is the no huddle fast pace offense the main reason our offense is so productive? I don't think so. We can still be just as effective if we were to huddle or even remain no huddle but using more clock between snaps.

The defense needs all the help they can get & the less they're on the field the better. We have enough talent on offense to control the clock more if that's what we chose to do. JMO

It's funny how we were all complaining about the offense earlier in the season. Now, it's all about the defense. Crazy how fast things change.

Chaney still does some boneheaded things on offense, but my complaints on that side of the ball have decreased significantly. Our defense, on the other hand, is just plain awful. True freshman DBs are getting put on an island by themselves fro 50+ snaps. STUPID. Our coverages hardly ever give safety help. STUPID. Like Hubbs said, we're runnings stunts with a guy who is 6'6" 370lbs. STUPID.

These are my biggest issues. At some point they have to just accept what they have on the defensive side of the ball and call the plays to reflect that. There is NO situation at all that I ever want to see only one safety back in coverage, need 2 on EVERY SNAP IMO. Just sit back and force teams to make long, sustained drives and beat you without giving up explosive plays. Hope to buckle down in the red zone.

It sucks to type that, but this isn't a big play defense that is going to ever nut up and force three and outs, so adjust and make the other team be patient and work their way downfield and hopefully they make a mistake.

In other terms its kinda like gameplanning to stop our own offense. Take away the edges and take away the deep plays and force them to dink and dunk and call 10 straight running plays to score. We wouldn't do it, Chaney/Bray are almost too proud to not take deep shots. Then you capitalize on a mistake.

Big boy Jesse Williams just lined up for Bama and punished the center all game.

The defense is hurting the defense. They forced atleast 2 dozen third and longs last week and allowed Troy to convert about 90% of them. Not getting stops on 3rd and 9+ had a lot more to do with how many plays those guys had then the no huddle offense.

I still hate a lot about it. Pulling Bray when he is on fire to run the wild pig being chief among them.

I also don't get how they've come up with 20 ways to get CP the ball, including toss sweeps and end-arounds, but have never once thrown the bubble screen out there. With 10 yards of cushion and Rivera on his side to block that play would be dynamite.

This is true also. I can't argue that they suck on 3rd and long. I guess to be completely honest, they are both a part of a big problem.

Jay, BB, myself, and others have been screaming this all year.

See, I don't mind that at all. Pig picked up 8-9 yards on first down there. The play absolutely worked. It was just execution... like so many other times this year.

The flipside to that is Bray throwing on 1st and 2nd down at the end of the half and then running on 3rd. That was poor IMO... but the Wild Pig that you are referring to was aight.
