I hate that reasoning, bumping someone in the ranking because of who they will play in the future?
at some poiont you just have to rank them where you think they are. you could swap UGA and Bama at 4/5 and i don't think anyone balks at it. but UGA's win over Florida is better than any win Bama has. Bama's loss is better than UGA's, especially considering Bama beat the team that beat UGA.I hate that reasoning, bumping someone in the ranking because of who they will play in the future?
how do you have MN behind, especially THAT far behind PSU??? no sense. there's a scoreboard that proves they're better.
well, random message board poster bias is one thing. the play off rankings had it right, MN ahead of PSU, so not really worried about that.I hope when the college football comittee discusses rankings they don't use the names of the team. It is clear that their is a big bias based off of a schools name.
then that sucks for Penn State for losing. they had their chance. MN won. and is undefeated....PSU is not, no matter how good their resume looked prior to losing...and MN is in the big 10 at least.Because...South Dakota State, Fresno State, Georgia Southern, Purdue, Illinois, Nebraska, Rutgers, Maryland are all garbage teams. Minnesota is undefeated and managed to upset Penn State in a close game at home. Now if they win out beating Iowa & Wisconsin (as well as OSU in championship game) then they'll clearly be in the top 4 without question. Even as a 1 loss, losing to just OSU they'll have a solid case. But their schedule was back-end loaded when it came to quality opponents.
Penn State despite losing the head to head has wins over Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, and a surprisingly solid Pitt team.
wasn't that ND game like in week 3? lol.Georgia has 2 top 10 wins though, they beat an undefeated Notre Dame in their house and then beat a 1 loss Florida team.
You're kind of double talking here...either you reward the good teams who beat other good teams or you don't.
To me Alabama is a better team than Georgia, them being in the same division as LSU means with both of them being dominating all the other teams are taking 2 Ls in that division. I mean A&M is a pretty good opponent, all 3 of their losses were to top 10 teams, 2 came to #1 ranked teams in Clemson & Bama. So it's not like that's just a cupcake that got squashed...
Same thing for an 8-4 Auburn team, sure Auburn will end up with 4 losses, but all 4 will be to top 10 teams, and 3 of them will be to top 5 teams. So 8-4 Auburn is a lot better win than beating even a 9-0 Baylor team (if OU does).
Yeah that's true but I still think when money is involved there will be biases that come into play. I hate when I hear the "best team" argument instead of basing it off of on field results. I feel like it's just another way to argue to put the bigger school in.well, random message board poster bias is one thing. the play off rankings had it right, MN ahead of PSU, so not really worried about that.

the easiest way to remove bias is for those that control their own destiny...is to continue to control their own destiny.Yeah that's true but I still think when money is involved there will be biases that come into play. the only research i need is the score from the MN/PSU game lol. there's a result that tells us who the better team is. you have to go find some analytics to determine which of the two is better?.......it's just a fact MN beat PSU.....lol.You asked my opinion and I gave it to you, you don't have to agree. But at least I took the time to research this opinion and supply reasoning rather than just leaning on "MN is undefeated"
It'll all shake out though, it's funny though Minnesota has exactly 2 wins over teams with 6 wins or better (Illinois & Penn State). PSU has beaten 3 and played 4 (the 4th being MN obviously). Ultimately Minnesota is in a great spot they took care of the soft part of their schedule and have beaten their toughest regular season opponent with only Wisconsin left before conference title game.
Meanwhile Ohio State still gets Penn State and Michigan before the title game. I'd love to see Penn State win out & Minnesota win out so they can rematch in the title game. Penn State wins and Ohio State with 1 loss is completely left out since 2 other Big 10 teams will have 1 loss and played in the title game instead of them LOL
I agree that's why I try not to get too involved in these discussions. The one situation that will make me mad is if Minnesota wins out the regular season but loses to OSU in the B1G championship and Bama wins out and they put Bama in ahead of Minnesota. There is so much football left to be played out and I am excited to watch it.the easiest way to remove bias is for those that control their own destiny...is to continue to control their own destiny.
if MN/OSU wins out and the Big 10, they're in....a one loss MN won't get in, cause @MoCo_Vol is right about their resume...it won't hold up against other 1 loss teams....but an undefeated big 10 champ? they're in.
if GA wins out and the SEC, they're in.
if LSU wins out in the reg season, they're in.
if Clemson wins out, they're in.
everybody esle is rooting for Auburn to beat UGA and/or Bama. they're rooting for LSU to beat UGA. anything that keeps 2 SEC teams out, OU, Baylor, oregon, utah etc.......are rooting for it.
but if Bama wins out....they will compare favorably to other one loss teams. Bama wants Auburn to win Saturday vs. UGA, and LSU to win out and the SEC, and they win the Iron Bowl. and then anyone else losing in the Big 10, Big 12, Pac 12 is just gravy.
agreed. what we think we know right now can change a lot over hte next 4 weeks....that's the best part. there's still 4 weeks of games.....and i'm sure there'll be some twists and turns.I agree that's why I try not to get too involved in these discussions. I agree that 1 loss Bama shouldn't be in top 4, I thought the argument was that even undefeated Bama shouldn't beClemson is undefeated so that's why they are ahead of Bama, no one is ranking OU in the top 6, Penn state has beaten a ranked Michigan and a ranked Iowa and have only lost to a top 10 Minnesota. Minnesota is undefeated and bestrn a top 10 Penn State team.
You don't reward teams for playing good teams before they play them. That's a really bizarre firm of double talk lol. Once the play and beat the good team, you move them up. By your reasoning Baylor should get a bump for having OU on the schedule, even though they haven't played them yet.Georgia has 2 top 10 wins though, they beat an undefeated Notre Dame in their house and then beat a 1 loss Florida team.

yeah, and that's the other thing about this, siap, there's a lot of Football left to be played, so what we think we know right now, is likely gonna change a lot before it's all over. You asked my opinion and I gave it to you, you don't have to agree.
