Pruitt quotes from SEC teleconference...

“Coming off an off week, it came at a good time for our team. We are as healthy as we have been in some time. We had a good week last week and have started off this week as well. Our guys are excited. We are playing a really well coached team that plays well in all three phases.”

“Defensively they create a lot of problems for you.”

“We will have a tremendous challenge playing on the road against a good football team. It’s something we are looking forward to. There’s something about this team that I really like and we need to finish the right way.”

Have you decided who you will start at quarterback?

“We have. We will announce it on game day.”

Job Ansley has done…

“I think Derrick has done an outstanding job. Last year losing Tuttle, Johnson, Abernathy, Phillips, Kirkland, Kongbo. We lost a lot. I think Derrick has done a nice job holding this group together and they have gotten better. He’d done a really nice job and I’m not surprised.”

Thoughts on doing Volcalls…

“I really enjoy it. It’s one of my favorite parts of the week. There’s lots of really good questions that come from the fans who calls in. Robbie from Tallahassee calls in every week and gets me fired up. I really enjoy doing it. We didn’t get to do it a couple of weeks ago and I was disappointed. I like doing it.”

How have you held this team together…

“It’s very easy in this day and time with social media, there’s no secret out there anymore so it’s hard keeping everyone together. Our staff has done a good job with it. We struggled to start the year and our kids knew why. We made alot of critical errors whether it was turnovers or attention to details. Our team has continued to improve and have stayed together. When we have eliminated those mistakes and forced the other team to beat us. We have had some success.”

Update on J.J. Peterson…

"J.J. is a typical guy that’s highly recruited that people have unrealistic expectations on him. He got here in September. He played in four games on special teams. He had winter surgery and missed all of spring ball and summer. He’s had one fall camp. He’s doing a really nice job. He’s had some guys who have been ahead of him so he didn’t get quite as many reps. I have seen lots of improvement with him over the last 4-6 weeks

listened tot he VQ podcast today. couple things i thought that were interesting....the Kaho kid has moved way up the board apparently, staff really likes him a lot.

the staff is gonna have to work to hold on to Butler and Calloway...others will/are gonna come calling....they don't see anyone right now that the staff would give the git shirt to.....

LW is going to be given the opportunity to be a RB if he comes here, and b/c of that, they seem to think we lead with him....said usce dropped the ball here.

Tisdol is apparently holding out for a committable Auburn offer, his dream school. so we're going after him knowing we're playing a bit of a game here.....but they like him a lot too.

said that we're not giving up on Hardy or Ojulari. in the case of Hardy, too much invested to roll over..."gonna make Auburn earn it"...not quite the same tone for Ojulari, but they really like him and are still trying. i don't think they felt too confident on flipping either of them. did say there were still some scenarios with Ojulari that could work in our favor, like if Gilbert flipped to Bama, who is still trying hard with him, or if LSU got Philip Webb, would that push BJ out? lots of speculation, none of it sounded awfully good for our chances....but......it's recruiting. ish happens.

RB is a need, but they feel LW could address that, and if so, that means Hodge and LW would be it.

still need DL, WR and OL....still feel good about Baron, Thomas and Oxendine.....they're less concerned about WR because of how well Gibbs has done this year in that position on the scout team. no mention of Jarrett....did seem to think that if Jones Bell wants in, he's in....but that's another flip hopeful.....they like Banks as well from Olive Branch, but again, another flip candidate....

spots are getting tight, and things are heating up supposedly and they look for the Vandy game to be a realtively big weekend for visits.....

Darnell Washington seems to be between us, bama and ga...and he has a spot no matter what if we wants in....

speculation that we finish between 12 and 15. IF a couple bigger fish jump back in or get in, said they could see us sneak in to the top 10...but that's not as likely as it may have been over the summer.

Sewell...well...he got mentioned...but that was it. seems that ship may have already sailed.

Darrin Turner...nothing there...

seemed to allude to the notion that the potential of finishing 8-5...and get a big win early next year (ou and/or uf??) could translate in to next year's cycle being the "splash" class....tifiwiw....we're a long way out on that obviously.

no mention of any commitments coming up....no mention of grimes at all.

they figure 80% of the class signs on ESD in December.

If you're not going to sign a top 10 class, getting almost everyone to sign in December is probably the next best thing for a 10-15 ranked class.

After rewatching Florida vs Missouri last night.... their secondary is horrible. If our OL holds up (i don’t think their pass rush is anything special) they cannot guard us.
They seem to be a strange anomaly in terms of pass defense. Decent overall, their LBs and 1 safety grade very highly in pass coverage (they have the top 3 SEC LBs in coverage, though Garrett is injured), but like you said their CBs are poor. I would think this aligns well with what we want to do on the outside, but they maybe limit rpo slants is my amateur guess. Look forward to your film breakdown.

I would but he also can't stay healthy because he weighs about a buck 70 soaking wet.
His head/neck injuries have been pretty freakish though. Idk if weight mattered in either one.

But yeah he could definitely get on the Dobbs plan regardless. I thought he perfectly balanced getting bigger while not losing speed.

It's not stealing if it's within the NCAA rules. It wasn't only UT making calls...
I think they have to be placed in the portal before any official contact could be made. I figure "backdoor channels" were being used though, aka Fill Phulmer on the burner. I can see why they didn't like it, but no need to air it publicly like a bish. Could've just been an adult and called us directly like Jeremy did to squash it.

To settle the Tua debate... he'll be as relevant as Mariota in 4 years. He ain't no Mahomes. Career backup at best in the league.
I would say the lineman landing on top of him and breaking his hip has a lot more to do with settling the argument than your word does.

I think it was Simonton who asked the initial question that Warrior shot down. Then look who kept asking Warrior to explain why he wouldn't answer the original question.

There he is! He hadn’t tried to make himself part of the story in so long, I thought he’d sneaked off and become a legitimate journalist! 😏

When the same thing went down at Ole Miss, they didn't have to be in the portal. I just assume the same is true with Missouri.

I believe the mystical portal entity came into existence the year after Ole Miss. Had to get permission back then to be contacted. Seemed like things were a bit more private back then. The portal is supposed to be private, but so much for that...

But you may be right that a ban changes things, idk. I just assumed we and others were using backchannels to gauge interest and that's what upset him.

What I was thinking, but I feel bad thinking that way.
You'd think getting creamed every other play would be motivation enough, honestly. Whether it's the hand or not, minus his horrific hand-off woes he's played much better these last few weeks........ ME: GOES AND KNOCKS ON ALL THE WOOD I CAN FIND
