I would not be surprised to see one of the linebackers, inside or outside to grab a spot. I know Bennett and Deandre Johnson would be projected starters as of now, but I wouldn't rule out there being a lot of competition at those 3 positions (obv HT has it locked down)
Yeah, Deandre better be ready to earn it.
French, Baron, Joseph all are coming to play and play early. (although I really expect French to be ILB when the dust settles)
But we still got Roman & Crouch on campus too, both getting the benefit of a year in the system AND another spring ball. So I think Bennett is likely starting at one edge spot, the other one could be interesting.
Good pick, there's quite a few I could call my shot on. I hope all of them stay healthy, get a good education and enjoy their time playing here. Each has every opportunity to put themselves in a position to have 2-3 years of solid contributing and playing time if they work hard.
My top 5 that are "impact" players with NFL opportunities if I'm just picking right now.
1. Keshawn Lawrence - 6'1" 200lbs 4.5 speed, 41+ vertical, played WR & Safety...it's a bit early...but he's the closest Eric Berry prospect we've had in awhile
2. Omari Thomas - massive men that can move as well as him aren't easy to come by
3. Harrison Bailey - I mean, he's a 5 star state champion QB there's only 4 QBs who passed for more yards in Georgia history 1 is already in the NFL (Watson), the other 2 will be as well (Lawrence & Fromm)
4. Bryson Eason - NFL size already, NFL speed already and hasn't had a single day of D1 college S&C training? scary...what stands out most on tape is how "stiff" of a tackler he is, meaning when players hit him it's like they hit a wall
5. Jimmy Calloway - with his size and speed he can and has played everywhere...my worry here is we never find his place, but whenever he ends up he'll have a chance to be elite there
So many good candidates though in this class, just like last year. Morven/French/Baron could all get in the league too if they show an ability to become pass rushers.

I see no reason we wont have a top 20 defense next year. Finished about 29 this year. Only add good players to it. DTaylor can be replaced. Bituli can’t, but we will grow somebody there especially with a reinforced DL, they’ll make the LBs jobs easier.
yep. can you imagine our overall front 7 haul had we been able to hang on to Ojulari? mercy. and add Hardy in Feb?Agree on RB. would have loved a true game breaker in this class, but no way should we take a 3rd this cycle. Really need a stud next year though.
And agree on pass rusher. I said athletic edge defender for my biggest want to round this class out.
Would love to add Hardy. Perfect 3-4 DE for us.yep. can you imagine our overall front 7 haul had we been able to hang on to Ojulari? mercy. and add Hardy in Feb?
oh well. anyway, yeah...need more quality pass rushers. Joseph was a great add to this class.
Ah, gotcha. He can lay the wood. We’ll see how fast he is when he steps on the field with D1 skill players. These are just my thoughts, sorry for not being clear. Nothing in that post is from a scout or anything (the numbers I pulled came from 247). 6'2" and 250-260 LB though running down WRs has me thinking he's got some sort of wheels.

Think Baron is gonna bulk up and play DE. He is going to end up in that 270-280 range with his build.LB & Safety are most likely the spots a freshman could gain reps, maybe not as a starter but in the 2 deep.
French is likely the next Henry, so I think he'll be working to earn that #2 spot over JJP.
Eason is the next Bituli and the kid says he LOVES to stonewall the run, and his tape backs that up. He's also deceptively fast for his size, one highlight in his hudl shows him running down a WR (passing DBs to do it) with the WR having a 3-5 yard head start and Eason starting from a near dead stop.
But Banks if he returns will be looking to be the starter beside Henry.
Still we lost 2 LBs, and this class has a lotta high rated prospects. Especially since Baron/Joseph both in the 3-4 would be labelled as OLBs.
I really don't expect a true freshman DL to start, we're so deep there. But I think moving forward Rocker will rotate like he did this year to help the line stay fresh and to help prepare the younger guys to be ready to plug in when needed. So I think Bailey and Big O both can get into the rotation.
Still think Perry is an OT, mainly because we didn't take any and were willing to let Miller wait until February.
