Yep. I could have said 8-4 and been just as easily satisfied. 1998 - 2001 ruined us. I'd love for that to be sustainable, but it should not be the expectation.
Absolutely, but the trend is growing in the wrong direction to me anyways. It’s easy doing middle school ball because I only have to deal with parents for 2 years tops. Most of the parents are great but there’s always the few that just get to you. I’d say about 3 years ago it wasn’t a big problem like it has been this year. During our summer workouts we would spend a whole week on fundamentals and teaching the gaps without doing any scrimmaging then the next we would work on the plays we talked and walked through. Parents hated it until they heard how great our first class (now seniors) are doing. It makes it easier on them in highschool instead of going out and handing it off to your best back. We go out teaching them everything we can and get the best outta every player at every position but some parents will never understand that. I may just be speaking out of a I’ll mind right now though.
