Honest question of the 14 starting QBs where would you rank JG??
Top-4
Middle-4
Bottom-4
To beat our rivals our QB has to be consistently in the top 4

JG

Thanks. I needed that.

Am I delusional in thinking we would have had some success running outside as opposed to inside?

Year 20, two good passes

We was 10-12 in the first half, he made plenty of good throws and was accurate with the ball. JG didn’t rush for a total of -1 yards and have 10 total penalties.

Y’all can talk bad about the kid all you want, but that’s not gonna fix all the other deficiencies that played arguably a larger role in us losing.

Yep, barely above average is his motto

All we need this season is “barely above average”. 7-3 is the goal imo and that gets us there.

Now I understand we need that elite QB to get to the next level and next year it’s fair to want more than barely above average but imo the other 3 QBs we have can’t be “barely above average” this season

Again - JMO.

Mizzou found a QB against us. They tried somebody different. It was obvious he was the right guy for them even though he was not experienced. He learned from the first game and played lights out against a bad LSU D. It's not just the scheme or LSU's bad D, he is a playmaker. You could tell it the minute he came on the field against us.

Georgia found a QB in their first game. They tried somebody different when the O struggled. Somebody that even Georgia thought would be their 3rd or 4th choice. Undersized, not highly recruited. We experienced how much better he is than JG. It's not just the scheme, he is a playmaker.

Ole Miss found a QB. Kiffin conducted a tryout on the field in games. Corral is playing at a high level against strong competition as a sophomore - unlike JG. It's not just the scheme, he is a playmaker.

What are the common denominators? All three of those QB's are playmakers in different schemes. They fit the scheme and make plays outside of the scheme. The other denominator is their HC's were willing to try and make changes at the most important position on the field - during games. Then, they trusted the new QB to start and play well in the following games even if they had to take their lumps early on. Jeremy has not been willing to do that.

The QB is responsible to make calls at the LOS with what he sees from the D's. He cannot always look to the sideline and be told by coaches. Late shifts by the front 7 in particular can disrupt the later. JG has never been able to handle it. He is apparently unable to count the number of defenders in box or see the gaps they will be rushing in games. he definitely has zero feel for the role. The QB cannot always lock on his primary receiver in intermediate routes, which JG does, which leads to sacks, strips and stupid picks. Yes, Chaney did not help things with his play calling in the second half. But it was primarily because of who the QB is. He cannot throw well on the run and is not a threat for running with RPO's. That scheme would have helped to take away some of the strength of UGA's front seven.

We will lose against better competition because our D gets worn down from being on the field too much. By the 4th quarter they are tired and if behind, have lost the fight to come back because they know what they see out of the O. Against lesser competition, they will still have a chance.

So expect more of the same the rest of the season. They will get one half of production from JG like always. In general it will either be the first half based on good game prep by the staff, or, it will be the second half based on good adjustments made by the staff.

I will save recruiting to needs for another post another day. Jeremy is succeeding in some position groups and failing in a couple so far.
Where do you buy your hammers because you completely nailed it.

He is middle 4 or bottom 4. He is a game manager at best. He will not take a game over and will the team to victory. I will be the first to say that I miss Joshua Dobbs. I did not appreciate what he did for the team. His erratic throws were frustrating, but he was a gamer. He willed his teams to wins. JG refuses to run. Trevor Lawrence a "Pro-Style" passer will run the ball to get yards. I think I may be faster than JG, I am a middle aged guy with a bad ankle and back.

We weren’t beating Georgia. We aren’t beating Bama either. They are in a different league.

We are very capable of “Missouring” Kentucky and win handily by 3+ scores. I do not believe in Kentucky this year. But they always play us tough.

I think if we can beat the rest of the division (yes we can beat Florida) then I will call this season a success.

We simply have to beat Florida or we just aren’t getting out of this hole.

Ready to move on. I've said my peace. Looking forward to hearing some insight/rumblings from tonight's scrimmage.

If anything, the scrimmage tonight will help us build up the 2nd, but mainly 3rd+ stringers up. We definitely need those guys getting reps so they can be engaged/playing hard on scout team during the week. Who knows, might have a few guys who stand out tonight and earn starters minutes going forward.
