We have no razzle dazzle at the WR position. That is never a good thing and it's been that way for us since CP left Knoxville. No one is going to burn the corner on a slant and shake and bake both safeties for a house call. See #1 for Florida Toney. A man can wish I guess..
Wideman supposedly has that speed but we haven't seen much of him. I wonder if he missed time with the contact tracing.

based on yesterday's performance, KY game is going to be a close one...
My guess is they'll all be dog fights. Probably even Vanderbilt. As the season progresses the book is out on the vols. Stop the run and make JG beat you. If we can physically overwhelm the other team, successfully block against 8 and 9 man fronts, then we'll be ok. If not it'll be dog fights.

I agree that the OL certainly didn’t help. But I’m pretty sure he checked to a long pass on 3rd and 2 on a key series. Just like the Brandon Johnson catch against USC. It can work at times but not high percentage. Not sure that’s what the coaches wanted.

I hate going deep on 3rd and short too, its mind boggling. Seems to be a staple of a Chaney offense though, wish he would revisit his playcalling in those situations though no doubt. And if Jg called that then yes I would say bad call on his part for sure

Wow you missed the MSU game yesterday

vs Ga
nix 21/41 0 TDs 1int 177 yards

Franks 19/36 1 TD 2 Int 200 yards

JG 23/36 2 TDs 1 INT 215 yards

interesting how fans only see the flaws in their own

LOL, Nope, saw everything and would not change.... Interesting how fans can only look at one game and not a body of work when making an opinion... With what I've seen from the QB's I listed, they all overall give us a better chance to win than the kid who's been on campus for 5 YEARS and has not improved a bit...

The blind side ones where guys came unblocked?
Georgia vs. Tennessee score, takeaways: No. 3 Dawgs stay patient, shut out Vols in second half for big win

"
3. Tennessee won't ascend until QB improves
This Vols are improving, and if you're a Tennessee fan, you've seen reason for optimism going forward. Even if the idea the team was ready to compete with the elite of the SEC was put to rest in Athens, this defense appears legit.

The offense could use some work. In my mind, Tennessee is in a similar position to where Texas A&M is in the SEC West. The roster is more talented and things are trending in the right direction, but the Vols need a difference-maker at the QB position before they take that final step. Jarrett Guarantano looked like he could be that guy in the first half, completing 11 of his 13 passes for two touchdowns. But he was horrific in the second half as a turnover machine. He fumbled three times and threw a pick, and it killed any chance that Tennessee had of pulling off this upset.

The chance to pull it off was there. The fact they had the lead at halftime despite not playing particularly well was something they couldn't take advantage of as Guarantano quite literally gave the game away."

Where do we go from here? We almost lost to UK last year because of a flat start. There may be a scrimmage tonight but I’m not sure who supplants who.

On defense, MoJo had some flashes last night so maybe him. Banks and QC really didn’t look very good. AT is athletic but frustrating and not meant for CB. Maybe he’s a bit like Eddie Jackson and needs to be at safety

Offense is a mess. JG needs to be benched. I’d have to go back through the line and see what’s going on. They all seemed to get worked. Receiver is fine imo but would like to see some of the freshman get more touches. TE is a complete non-factor In our game and it hurts
I feel like Alontae would be a really good Free Safety. Maybe we eventually give Key some in-game experience at corner. I’d hate for his first game to be against Bama tho. They’re the best group of receivers again this year. Some personnel adjustments need to be made though.

That’s unfortunately true. We are what we are after 3 games. Short of a QB change, we can’t change our offense.

Stop being a prisoner of the moment.

We’re the same team we were before UGA. It’s like you guys think we were favorites in that game or something - we were 2 TD underdogs.

You’re also acting like UGA defense isn’t elite. It is. Get outta here with that Vandy BS

I can’t say for sure, but he walked up and made a different call right before the snap, so I believe JG did it.

He did miss some camp with tracing. Plus is really raw, basically a high level AAU basketball player running around in pads making plays. One of those guys that will just get better and better and better his entire time here. I give them a pass bringing him along slowly so to speak. But Hyatt/Callaway/Jet are all guys that can separate from a defense in a hurry and completely flip a game. Velus was never a good WR and wasn't going to suddenly turn into one. Johnson/Ramel/Tillman are all pretty much the same guy at this point. Utility guys I guess. Palmer is awesome though, looks like Meachem.

I have zero confidence that JG can win any of those games comfortably. I'm not predicting losses. Im predicting they'll be hard games. As the season progresses do you not think Mason will scheme to make JG beat them? He's the weak link on this team. That's all I'm saying.

Johnson has played ok so far. One thing that surprised me a lot yesterday was Tillman it seemed like he played quite a bit but didn't play much the first two games. Im on board though with getting Hyatt and Holiday more touches. Hyatt reminds me a lot of Robby Anderson.

It’s pretty simple based off the Missouri game. Need success on first down, and we can protect JG after that with keeping the defense off balanced.

Sure, the OL needs to get better. But I looked back. LSU ran for 49 yards against Missouri. Alabama ran for 111. We ran for 232!

Just 7 man fronts won’t do it. Blitzes are what JG struggles with. I don’t expect many more teams to do what UGA did, but the OL and playcalling have to get better.

It more so depends on the O line though. Mizzou schemed and stacked the big to stop the run and still couldn't.
UK, Arkansas, Vandy. We should be able to run on at will. Auburn looks soft right now but are still more talented than the other 3. AM and UF are toss ups.

JG hurt us by not protecting the ball.
The Oline got destroyed and missed assignments all second half. Will Friend seriously needs to be looked at. We didn’t think we could bully them but missing assignments is not except able.
JG made 2 nice TD throws but he hurt us more than helped us. Need someone new.

This, I agree with.

I pretty much already expected every SEC game to be a dogfight, but I have yet to see an SEC defense that will be able to shut down our offense like UGA did. The only games where I think we will have to score 30+ points to be in the 4th qtr are Bama and UF.
