I don't buy into rumors. Most rumors originate from someone being pissed about something.

If boosters are dictating hires, then Fulmer is a weak AD. I honestly don't recall a booster problem when Dickey was AD. That all seemed to start with Mike Hamilton, who quite honestly, was a weak AD. He was all about schmoozing. Nothing opens up the checkbooks like winning. Dickey understood that. Personally, I think Fulmer understands that as well. Given his own history with boosters, it's hard for me to imagine Fulmer allows boosters to dictate hires. Now, tell me his own ethics nixed the possibility of a Freeze hire, that seems more believable, but I doubt even that happened. I think Fulmer is willing to help Pruitt succeed, and I don't think boosters are being asked to vet staff hires. JMO.

and when Lebron didnt get AD the first season what happened?
He cried to upper management coasted trough the season and walked off the court before the game ended. Before the game ended.
He had a groin injury for the majority of the season and still almost singlehandedly willed that team to the playoffs

Just making you aware of your own projections.

Bad take on the hills, I agree. Just get tired of the group think. Even on recruiting, which is the section we are in. Some guys that commit are allowed to suck or not be the next Cam Sutton 3*. Maybe they do indeed look like s*** and are lowly rated for a reason. I got ripped for saying that extension we gave Pruitt was a bad idea. I'd love for someone to come in here and say Harrison Bailey looks like complete garbage at practice and there's a reason he's on the bench.

I think some assistants and other likely coaches & things of that sort get spooked by the rabid nature of the fan base & alums. They know how much is expected of them because we make it known and fast.
I can tell you what's gonna spook some really good assistants. The way we keep running them off. I don't know how many more friends Pruitt has in the assistant pool but it's gotta be drying up pretty soon.

I mean, Harrison may not even be the future, after all. Just because he was a 5 star doesn’t mean he’s the Second Coming. I personally think he’s excellent but he’ll have to catch up on what he missed out over the spring & etc. There again, Salter/Simpson/Horn could be what takes us to the next level. HB was one of my favorite guys we picked up in that class, but you truly never know. Not saying I hope he doesn’t work out, I’m just being realistic and mature.

Nah. Saban does it constantly. They’ve both got a hell of a Rolodex

To get back to big time program status, the expectation is there would be highly rated guys not necessarily contribute/get recruited over/"bust", etc. If our QB room boasted Bailey/Salter/Simpson/Horn, it doesn't mean we'd like all of them to ultimately be successful. But realistically we'd stand a much better chance of having one of those four excel, vs. the current situation we're in.

Same is true for the rest of the position groups. It's the reason we're looking forward to continued success on the recruiting trail as we build top level depth, which is something we're still lacking as a whole.

Absolutely. You make great points. I truly believe we can get there again. But, ya gotta break some eggs to make an omelet.

Yeah losing Trey Smith would really hurt but hopefully spraggins will be good enough to hold his own. I think OL should be fine if everyone else comes back.

And though Cade isn’t all world at pass blocking but If he comes back we should be really good.

People just have to slow down on him. Finished ranked #99 nationally, so he's right in the thick of that Crompton, JG, Bray, Dobbs, Ainge crowd...well those guys all needed time except Bray, he was the exception. We just need patience.

Salter, Simpson competing with him helps too...surely one of them comes out a really good player. The future is bright at QB...eligibility rules will even the field for a few years...these next 3-4 years are our big opportunity imo.

In today's world, I doubt anyone will have that kind of depth at the QB position. The really good QB's will not stand on the sideline for very long. The porta potty would become the escape route to a starting job somewhere else. It's nice to think we could have that kind of depth though.

TE won't be worse, but we'll be young.

losing trey smith on the O line won't go unnoticed, and we may still be searching a bit for OT, or at least depth there....but as a group, the OL should still be very good i think.

QB will be a question until it's not. you're looking at a RS freshman, true freshman or hoping shrout or maurer finally gets it.....

WR should be good to go
RB should be good to go

DL should be better.
LB should be better
the secondary...kinda/sorta a question mark, but i wouldn't be shocked if it turned out to be the strength of the defense next year.

special teams....always TBD imo....it's been a bit shaky this year and i still don't have a ton of confidence when we go out for FG's.

overall, the team has a real chance to be very good. QB will be the biggie imo.
JG and Pruitt will be back. National Champion contenders. GBO.

RB will be better if we get someone who can break a tackle, block a blitzing LB or S, and catch a dump off over the middle.WRs should be the best we have seen in awhile. TEs will be much improved and get better as the season progresses. HB should be a be improvement and a true Freshman QB be should add more talent. Maurer, has a chance to become a solid player if HB gets hurt or fails to take over the team.

Is the Arkansas game the most important game of Pruitts head coach career so far? I think so. I believe if he played someone other than JG at QB then it wouldn’t be since fans and recruits would know we’re playing for the future. Since JG is starting (more than likely), it is a must win or I think we will see a lot of fans turn on him and recruiting will take a hit. We would be realistically looking at a 3-4 win season. It is a must win.

Unless he left after one season...which he would’ve.

One season is enough time for the AD and Freeze to know whether or not it could work in the future. Plant that seed for a beautiful relationship or confirm that it would never work. Plus you win all the games too of course.

Considering Arky and Auburn, maybe even tamu, look about the same and beatable, then no. Those 3 games are pretty interchangeable.

Plus...we're not playing for any specific goal - so just no such thing as "must win" to begin with.

No way would I ever trust #2 to keep me employed as a HC making $4 million a year. Yet, that is probably what Jeremy is going to do. Which tells me somebody above him is recommending it.
