This has been something I’ve said on here for weeks. They try to say they aren’t writing him off but they are. It’s salter or Simpson.

It’s just really pisses me off for Bailey solely because they sold him and his family as the future and all of the sudden a year later he isn’t and he’s currently being recruited over without being given the chance to show out...it’s bullshi*

Jeremy is really a good guy. I spoke with him about the kid that we helped and how it fell thru the cracks. It was in response to a text I shouldn’t have sent due to JG frustration but it wasn’t about Jarrett. I did tell him we need him to make it. He’s really trying but afterwards I spoke with a friend of his and this is an issue but it also makes these guys great as well. He is very stubborn and doesn’t think he’s wrong. I get it and have the same attribute but have learned to trust certain people. I hope for him the best. We all need a win. Go Vols.
I’m glad you were able to get this issue with him settled in your heart. I suspect you didn’t feel comfortable with it and wanted to get it off your chest so you could move on. At least that’s how I would feel. Good on you being able to forgive and being open to the other side of the story.

On a related note, we carry far too much unnecessary hate, anger, and bitterness in us. It hurts us more than it does the object of our feelings.

i don't think we're there yet....lol. we're 5 games in to his freshman year and neither Salter nor Simpson are gonna be here for a while....simpson especially.

there have been two things that were/are brought up about Bailey that have been nagging little things since he committed to TN....1. that he's not, and hasn't been, Chaney's preference or first choice at QB (which is speculative at best and no way to know that for sure) and 2. HB's ranking, evaluations, and lofty status as a top tier QB were propped up because of the talent around him at Marietta HS, and that has more to do with him being good, than him simply being good............

none of this is supported by anything other than opinion. the nail in many people's coffin on some of this though is that while Chaney was at UGA, they didn't pursue him....a 5* in state QB from the metro ATL area and he got what most would consider lukewarm interest.....the other side of that argument is that UGA has not exactly been hitting it out of the park when managing their own QB situation....as they've seen two 5*'s leave (one of which they were likely counting on being there and that may also be a reason they didn't pursue HB, didn't think they'd have a spot per se?)....and now have a walk on starting....so if you want to use the "uga didn't want him" argument, i would simply say "looks like they should have" lol.....

bottom line...he's a freshman during the absolutely weirdest freshman season one could have....zero off season, and even as an EE he's way behind on the developmental curve. it was going to be long odds to start this season even with a full off season. take that way and it drops to basically zero.

our QB situation is not ideal and hasn't been for 2 years. but if you wind up in 3 years wtih HB, Salter and Simpson on this roster and that's your QB room, with Ty Simpson as a true freshman in that group....i htink it's probably safe to say we're good for a while. and who knows, it's not out of the realm of possibilities that by the time we get to the end of 22, HB could be off to the NFL...........and you're looking at Salter and Simpson after that.....

or HB isn't all that and he winds up transferring when he sees the writing on the wall with Salter....

either way, these things kinda resolve themselves.....

but we don't know what we have with Harrison Bailey yet, but imo there's still no reason not to think he can"t be VERY good here.

Don't you know the game has changed and there is no place in football for a pure pocket passer that can't run a 4.5 or lower?

Let me get this straight.
The kid has only been at UT a few months.

During that time he has practiced very little because of circumstances.

But since the coaches have played him very little that means they’ve already given up on him.

Oh wait, they’re recruiting other QBs so that confirms it because other schools don’t recruit QBs when they already have one.

I forgot, the media says so. That settles it.

Not what I’m saying at all!....a lot of people are writing Bailey off and looking to salter

i mean think about that for a second. in theory, UGA should have seen Jacob Eason off to the NFL this past draft, and they should be entering Justin Field's, what, RS Soph season at UGA, and he'd be at the helm this year and next for sure.....if Eason never gets hurt, it's at least relatively probable we never even know who Jake Fromm is....

they chose to recruit Carson Beck over HB, and i'm still not convinced had Fields stayed, and with Fromm still on the roster, they could have landed him. you're getting at leat two years from him, maybe 3 if he decided to stay that long.....and unless an HB or Carson Beck could come in and just "win" that job....you'd have to think Fields was the plan, Fromm the backup.

we now know what actually happened....and as a result, UGA has had 2 grad transfers come in, one opt out, one has still been injured and a complete non factor, their first choice at QB this season was quickly benched in favor of the 5' nothin' Stestson Bennett the IV....

so before i'd start propping up the "UGA didn't want him" angle, i might take a look at all that and just wonder quietly if that has more to do with UGA missing than HB simply not being good enough.

nevermind the issues they had with their offensive coordinator last year and the quick turn that wound up being.....

and let's not forget....Carson Beck isn't starting at UGA either, likely for many of the same reasons HB isn't starting here.

you think UGA wants to be starting a walk on? lol. every other option they put ahead of that didn't pan out....sound familiar?

what UGA has on us, is a much better/more talented roster around that kid.....and they simply got lucky. he wasn't the first choice or the 2nd choice..hell he wasn't hte 3rd choice......................they "wound up" with SBIV, and as luck would have it...it's worked out ok so far. plus with the defense they have, they don't have to put a ton of pressure on that kid. they're perfectl comfortable putting tha defense back on the field......take a lot of presure off the offense in general to know you can go win an SEC game 14-3......................................................................

that's it..............anyway, i just don't think we should be so quick to use the "UGA didn't want him" mantra.....

Ok, sorry then. But your post that I responded to sure sounds like it’s directed at coaches, not “a lot of people.”

I find it kind of alarming how easily the VQ guys dismiss Harrison Bailey. Do they know something?

In the podcast they were talking about how Dabo wasn’t Dabo until he landed Tahj Boyd and how Simpson could be that guy. They said it didn’t have to be Simpson. Might be Salter. Might be someone else down the line. No mention of Bailey.

Only really stuck out because it isn’t the first time they’ve basically glossed over him being on the roster when talking about the future of the QB room.

This has been something I’ve said on here for weeks. They try to say they aren’t writing him off but they are. It’s salter or Simpson.

This may help you understand more in depth of what I was responding to

Yea Jacob Eason got F**ked on that deal.dude had a cannon.I think he could have won it all for them if he stayed, minus the bs route kirby decided to take in Fromm but Eason had the higher ceiling in my opinion

Fromm over Eason is reason enough to fire Kirby. Yes he was a better game manager, but they needed more than that to win it all. He played not to lose in a year they could have won it all. And he sacrificed Fields in the process, who's better than any uga QB in a long time.

yeah, i tend to agree. but that year 2 for Kirby was a big year, and a lot like this season, they had a GREAT defense...all those upper classmen that stuck around that 2nd year instead of leaving for the NFL was absolutely HUGE in the assention of that program, and again, it made the offenses' job a little easier to know that the staff was very comfortable putting that defense on the field in basically any situation.

and once they won that ND game.....you couuld pretty much tell EAson was done. the kid from Warner Robins was going to be "the guy"...the kid from the pacfic northwest...'never heard of him'.............lol.
