But what has he proven? He’s proven that in one season he can win 10 out of 13 games. That’s all he’s “proven”. No way our fans would settled for that.Except it isn't. Everyone you're talking about either isn't coming here or is, at best, another "gee I hope it pans out" hire. Freeze is proven. He's had success in this league at one of the worst programs in this league.
He's a mediocre HC and fans didn't even want him as OC (especially Falcons fans)...one stint "coaching" Saban's boys and people think he is great all a sudden It's laughable how Saban tricks everyone (see: Maryland) into thinking those below him are doing something special with all his talent and coaching.Sark I have mixed feelings on. I like the thought of the next HC being someone with really good offensive experience. But he didn't do anything special in his brief tenure at USC and was known as 7-win Sark at UW, which got to be pretty good under Petersen (who is probably a generational coach, to be fair). I don't know. It's a roll of the dice, but so many things are.
Ok. Thanks
I'll keep on hitting the Google machine. Maybe there's something I'm still missing with Doug Marrone.
*It seems like if he was to get hired, Vol fans would have to talk themselves into believing he could win big here. Almost seems like the past 4 coaching hires. I think we'd be coach shopping again in 3-4 years
If we were going to hire a Saban OC, give me Daboll who moved on to the Bills. He's a mediocre HC and fans didn't even want him as OC (especially Falcons fans)...one stint "coaching" Saban's boys and people think he is great all a sudden It's laughable how Saban tricks everyone (see: Maryland) into thinking those below him are doing something special with all his talent and coaching.
Recruiting is moot if you can't coach, prepare, develop, and scheme with said talent. He’s recruited well. Best players on this team are freshman and sophomores.
None of which were really able to be developed this offseason.
But again, Gump bad. Freeze or I’m done!!!!
Any coffee nerds in here?
Just made a fresh pour over for relative and they immediately put flavored creamer in it. Broke my heart.

Never say we are already at rock bottom. We can always drop even more. Always. What does UT have to lose with Hugh Freeze? We’re already at rock bottom. At least we tried even if it goes down in flames. He’s the most accomplished and surest thing out of anybody we could hire. He’s going to be back in the league at some point and will kick our butts somewhere else if we don’t hire him.
Hiring guys that we hope work out should be over. He’s worth the risk and it’s time to make it happen.
Arkansas caught lightning in a bottle too early. Pittman made REALLY smart moves as a first year coach and he’s seeing benefits in the record but it’s gonna cost them 2-3 years down the line. Both coordinators we’ll be lined up for better jobs soon. They’re not recruiting very well either. Not they won't. Briles will be gone next year and Odom will be gone shortly after that also. Pittman made excellent hires there, when they're gone, then what happens?
Similar costs will be there next year, just a bit less. Buyout is like 60% of salary. The difference is hardly material IF you're just going to have to fire him next year because everyone knows he's not the guy.Regardless. The buyout combined with the loss in revenue prohibits a move this year. I know I am raining on the flight tracker parade but it's the reality we are living in right now.
Nutt was pretty good at defending his compliance record while at Ole Miss. For sure. And I think Nutt was a fine recruiter in his own regard.
