My list.

1. Hugh Freeze - make it happen
2. Joe Brady - NFL stay likely
3. Luke Fickle - Big 10 lifer most likely
4. Matt Campbell - Highly unlikely

I don’t want to hear another name. I will throw the things
Now this is a good list. No Tee. No Sark. No one we haven't already passed over before...for good reason.

If he didn't win more than 6 games by year 3? All of us would be against him. What kind of question is that? Good thing is it wouldn't happen.

The kind of question you ask when people speak in absolutes when absolutes don’t exist.

Just like saying it “won’t happen”.

I admire your expectations. I would love for your scenario to be a sure thing; but it’s not.

If you want to stick to the opinion that Freeze is our best available option, I tend to agree with that sentiment. But to say he’s the fix and he’ll win 8 games minimum every year is a hope, not a fact.

Not trying to pick a fight. End of the day, despite our opinions, we all want the same thing. Relevance. Winning. Rings. Program Respect.

Not sure if this is worth monitoring or not because we all assume he’d rather stay north, but Luke Fickell was close to taking the Michigan State job last year at $5M per year.

We can match that number and provide a much better job.

The thing with Fickell is, you’re always sweating if Ohio State comes open.

Not they won't. Briles will be gone next year and Odom will be gone shortly after that also. Pittman made excellent hires there, when they're gone, then what happens?
No it isn't
Yeah, if UT would only listen to u, we would be winning 10 games every year. 6 months ago, in your opinion, Pruitt was a real football coach and a bearded Pruitt was your avi, so forgive me, if I don't take your opinions as absolute truths. U will turn on Freeze, within a year or 2, after the first upset loss or losing streak. U need instant satisfaction, but all the effed up hires in the past, prevent that, it's going to take time. The grass is always greener, isn't it, Bass ?

I do not see anyway possible that Freeze hasn't won 6 games by 3 years. Heck Pruitt won more than that last year and he lost to BYU and GSU.

So if we believe Freeze has matured and grown as a coach and person, how can we not believe the same thing of Sark? Remove your bumbling Falcons fanboy viewpoints. Even Saban and Spurier failed in the NFL and they had total control. Sark was just an OC doing a job to rebuild his career and learn.

Both Freeze and Sark had falls from grace after being successful in the younger days of their careers. Both did the work, matured and are better for it now. Both are brilliant offensive minds. Both have SEC and HC experience. So many on here would take Kiffin back in a heartbeat and wish he had never left. Kiffin says Sark is his equal from an offense standpoint and that he will be a HC soon. He's already turned down Colorado last year to wait on a better opportunity.

Maybe OC is his Peter Principle top spot. Odds are it is not, just like being at Liberty is not Freeze's. There are no clean major options for UT that do not involve a wannabe or a redemption story. They will not blow open the piggy bank to make it happen. So, I'm all in on Freeze or Sark. Either could grow into a NC type coach IMO. I don't see Campbell coming. He would be a good hire, but I see him going B10 or NFL. If we go wannabe, I prefer Napier or Chadwell.

If you take anyone's opinions as absolute truths then I feel sorry for you. They are, after all, opinions.

6 months ago Pruitt was on an 8 game winning streak and the team was showing improvement. Now we're staring down the barrel at 2-8. I was still supporting Pruitt, as everyone can recall, after the BYU loss last year. Even after the GA blowout I was encouraging people to stick with him. Earlier in this thread Kingston was mocking me for believing in Pruitt and now you're mocking me for giving up on him. Which is it? I need instant satisfaction? I'm a Tennessee fan. What are you talking about? Any honest assessment of what I have said in this thread is that I expect TN to have a floor of 8 games and to win 9-11 games a year with a chance to win it all on a year when everything goes our way. I think Freeze brings that.

You absolutely cannot worry about if or when someone might leave. You go hire the best you can and outbid anyone who comes calling.

It’s hard to judge his one full season at USC, but he did win 9 while still feeling the effects of sanctions. The turnaround job he did at Washington was impressive to me, especially considering the Huskies were winless the year before he got there and may have won 10 games the previous 3 years combined.
True, Washington was down before he came, but let's not act like he went 5-7, 7-6, 7-6, 7-6, 8-4 at Vandy or something. Washington is the 2nd winningest program in the conference...if he did that here he'd be fired by Y3 or Y4 at latest.

Just don't get how people downed him for OC 2 years ago...but would have him as HC? Feels like the Saban rehab program is working its illusory magic to me.

If we are shelling out 5M+ then let’s go double Cristobal’s salary (currently 2.7) and call it a day. He’s a much better fit and recruiter in the southeast.

And he will be a DC in 2025

All depends on the job he gets.

Non SEC power 5 jobs are paying extremely well and if you are a very solid coach like Odom you are much better off taking a 25-50 type job than a top 25 one. If he takes a TCU, Kansas, K state, Iowa type job he coaches there for along time and has a successful career.

The Florida OC is going to be a good head coach. He already has an impressive resume and only 33. He's coached D'eriq King, Kyle Allen, Nick Fitzgerald, and now Trask.
