What’s even more comical is that after all these coaching hire failures in a row, UT would hire Tee, Ansley or recently fired for failing Fuente. I get you’re trying to be “realistic” but I think you’re setting the bar pretty low for a Pruitt replacement if he’s fired this year, even if we are low bar UT.
We’ll see, I guess.

My opinion is Fickell and Campbell are totally unrealistic. And I think people have all their eggs in the Freeze basket, when we simply aren’t going to call the guy.

So when those top three are out, there’s going to be a serious panic here.

I’m setting my bar at that point.

I think Chadwell and Napier would get calls and both would do well here.

I’m like you, I don’t see all the necessary folks (either inside or outside the program) signing off on Freeze. Hopefully we’d kick the tires on Marrone or Sarkisian, and one of them says yes before it goes too far down the list.

But when they put out the hot board in 2009 with Dooley on it, I said to myself, surely we won’t have to got that far down the list. Sadly, that’s been the case ever since then too.

I think most people would be fine with Chadwell or Napier, and there are probably others we haven't thought of.

Chadwell is a one hit wonder. Hell he was 8-16 at coastal before this season. Now if he can sustain success there that’s another story but he has no big boy football on his resume and that resume is just too light right now

Sark was very average as a head coach. It’s easy to look good with five star talent everywhere.

December 5th- Lose to UF by 30
December 6th- Pruitt talks about how we "need to do better, starting with me"
December 12th- Rally the troops to beat Vandy 20-17
December 20th- Pruitt will be the coach for 2021

Signing Day- Class is 35th overall
This is what I expect. I will also add. Pruitt is fired after Bama beats us by 30 again next year. We then go get a coach mcgoogle after who barely has a .500 record in either the C USA or Mac and then we are right back here again in 3 years.

Fuente is 63-48, has won a conference title at Memphis and a division title at Virginia Tech. He’s won two conference coach of the year awards.

I think I’d take him over Chadwell and Napier, but that’s just one man’s opinion.
He’s a good coach. The knock on him is his recruiting but at UT he wouldn’t have to worry about that

Id take him because he runs a more modern offense. Not this garbage Pruitt has been running for 3 years.

I honestly am not sure what to think of Fuente. Lots of people have won at Memphis, similar to Houston. He inherited a good team from Beamer and had a good 1st 2 years but has fallen off a bit since then.

He took over as an interim for their 1st FBS season. They have only been FBS three seasons and they joined a pretty established conference with decent teams like Troy, GA So, and App St.

I know it would not make sense to tie the next head coach to one prospect, but which candidate would give us the best chance to land Ty Simpson. My first impulse was to dismiss Fuente, but he has some track record of developing QB’s prior to Va Tech and may have made some TN connections during his time at Memphis. Would be help there? What about Sarkisian?
