Its 99.9% that Pruitt will be back next season.

With that being said, until TN hires a successful power 5 coach we are going nowhere. All of this Napier, Chadwell, Neal etc BS will never elevate us to being on a level of winning SEC Championships oe the East.

If TN would give complete control like Saban to a very good P5 coach they would come.

TN has not hired a big time coach since Johnny Majors, think about that. We got lucky with Fulmer.

I dont believe Pruitt is the guy to get us there but hiring some lower level up and comer doesnt improve what we have now, so there is no reason to change.

Im 60 years old and not sure i will live to see UT win another SEC East title. That being said i would take Malzahn because he would be a step up. Freeze just has too much baggage.

I agree, unfortunately every time I believe we've hit a new low and can go no further we find another level or two we didn't think possible.

What did he say that you and Abingdon are so depressed about? Just sounds like his usual stuff to me.

-Unless investigation reveals something significant, Pruitt is back.

-There are no “young money” boosters pushing for Freeze.

-Saying there is objection to Freeze at all levels.

But for me it’s more so that I’ve convinced myself that we won’t make a move. And that gives me the sads.

This is where our true problems are. There will never be young money boosters until we start winning.

Not having multiple quality players hit the transfer portal. We would be in for another 5 year rebuild unless we get a guaranteed winner which isn’t going to happen. Read Deerpark12 posts the last few days. It completely changed my perspective on the current predicament.
He has no idea what he is talking about.

Kingston doesn’t know
Eh, I think he has a source(s). It’s been stated many times, but I’m in the camp that all the “insiders” (with the exception of a a small few) aren’t on here to stir the pot. They have some connections in different areas from the AD, to boosters, to coaches. Each “area” has different takes or perspectives. It’s no different than two people reading an article and coming to different conclusions.
Keep in mind that this is a big money business and a very very few actually know what’s happening behind the curtain. The “sources” who each of our guys trust, depending on their level of involvement, may be dealing out info they wholeheartedly believe to be true, but they could be part of a disinformation campaign. Conspiracy theorist or not, when this level of power and finances are at stake, information warfare exists.
On the same note, guys like @Atlanta VOL (who I do believe to be connected on booster side) can’t be straightforward. The major players probably don’t read this site. But I guarantee they have people that have people that have people that do. When only a select few know the real details, it’s not hard to find the source from their side of things. I’m not sure what Bobvols connection is and I’m sure he has one. I don’t think he’s on AVs level. If he was, he’d be out of the “circle” pretty quick.
I hate not knowing as well, but I get why some like AV and @MetalVolunteer don't give specifics. You don’t learn the secret handshake by spilling all the beans.

End of the day, I appreciate all details Even if they are wrong in the end. It’s more than I bring to the table.

How many places would this logic be acceptable:

“Chuck’s contract renewal is coming up. You know, he’s really screwed up that R&D department since we promoted him, and he might be cooking the books on his accounting practices. But I’ve been looking around, and there aren’t any “sure things” out there, so we’ll just keep him another year and hope the candidate pool is better then.”

Oh, ok. Abingdon was kind of hinting he might have said something that would help me understand them keeping Pruitt for another year, which I couldn’t find.

You don’t have to buy it if you don’t want to. But, last 3 hires disagrees with most of your opinion on it.

Sorry, I just disagree that someone has taken charge and refused to take no for an answer. No one took Mike Hamilton seriously and Currie, he thought Schiano was the best choice. Say what you will about Leach, but Currie could have easily had a relatively high profile Leach and he goes with Schiano???

I actually believe the last three hires make my point for me. But I could be wrong...

I actually liked Schiano as a candidate until...
1. Someone posted an article about the Sandusky connection (I wasn’t aware of it).
2. His horrible run as DC of Ohio State right before the reVOLution.

We aren’t Florida and we don’t have a Dan Mullen just sitting there. We do have endless internal struggles that the whole college football world has seen for years though.
We could have had Mullen though. Half the board was against it at the time but we screwed it up anyways. Hindsight is fun....

I’m on mobile, and it’s tough to sift through pages. Anyone who has access, can you repost Brent Hubbs’ most recent comments? I think it was from early yesterday. Trying to share with a few friends what has been said. I really appreciate it.

You can't really blame "old money" for not fixing problems when "young money" won't step up and fix them, either. People are too invested in taking sides when coming together is the answer.
