Louisiana's AD making that statement feels to me like Napier has told him he's done interviewing at other places.

Auburn > Tennessee, so if he turned them down, he'd turn us down too.

I guess he's waiting on LSU or Texas.

Got to disagree on Auburn. We’ve proven that we’ll give an HC a much longer leash, and any job in SEC West is at least slightly tougher than a job in the East.

no, it's not. and he was at Bama for a while, so he likely knows the situation at Auburn relatively well, and he probably knows the situation at TN relatively well.

and at the end of the day, aside from Auburn having the better w/l record recently, which is a definite consideration, there's really not a lot separating TN and Auburn, situationally. both jobs have the same basic challenges for any head coach. and the same basic opportunities. admin/boosters have been issues at both. we play basically the same schedule with us both having bama and uga to deal with. they have lsu, we have fl, but they have aTm to deal with. recruiting is the same for both of us.....fan bases are comparable, though i do think ours presents itself differently. wider footprint.

anyway. you get the idea. i don't think turning down auburn = turning down TN. it may simply be a personal preference.

and then there's the fact our job isn't open, and he still has one. so....it isn't really anything yet lol....

Yeah, I don’t think that press release forecloses anything re: Napier and UT.

I don’t know how many times I have to say this, but I know from two different people (one of which is on the S&C staff now at UF) that they all thought they were going to Knoxville, but Strickland swooped in and dunked on Currie at the last minute when their other options turned them down.

Explain the Strickland dunking on Currie clause of that sentence like I'm 5. Please.

Auburn is firing a coach off of an 8 year tenure. We are (hopefully) firing a coach off of a 3 year tenure.

Auburn's big games every year are Bama, Georgia, LSU. Our big games are Bama, Georgia, Florida.

Neither of those claims make any sense.

Well according to some of the "insiders" the old money prefers Napier.
Here's a rabbit hole that has basically zero chance of being true.

Maybe that's why the investigation was leaked. With an ongoing investigation, you can't bring in Freeze (young $ target per "insider info") on top of that. So old money leaks, forces our hand on Napier.

Nape Anon.

Any sources on this? I'd like to read them.
on the timeline? yeah, i mean we didn't attempt the announcement on Schiano before the Mullen meeting happened.

and on the FL side of things, i think it was kelly that said no first, then frost, then they went to mullen....it happened pretty quick, iirc....i wanna say we met with Mullen on a friday or saturday, were supposed to meet again either that Sunday or monday, but by that time, FL had gotten it's feedback from it's top 2 candidates and mullen took the fl job.

as for the money, you'd have to ask @JMSqb11 he seems to have the inside info on that.

Money wise - Mullen was getting offered the same range that Florida offered him. 5-6 years around 35 million give or take a million
