Why I’m still holding out hope even if we don’t hear any firings this week:

1. No interviews so far for assistant vacancies.
2. Investigation still ongoing.
3. All our likely candidates don’t play their bowl games until this weekend.
4. No rush to hire with no other big programs open and Auburn shipping their own bed.

Why I should crush that hope with the force of a 1,000 armies:

1. We are UT.

Whatever they have decided or will decide, we won’t know until after the internal investigation concludes. Why?
- If they’re firing him, they want to know what leverage they have re: buyout.
- If they’re keeping him, they don’t want to be blindsided by something down the road.
I hope they find nothing, if they have to fire him this late in the game I have no faith they replace him with anything other than a similar candidate. I have next to no faith they get it right under ideal circumstances.

I’d like to see a comparison of recruiting classes over the last 20 years.
I suspect auburn wins that battle which supports my stance but again I think it would be close

I’m sure you’re right about the recruiting classes, but that has more to do with internal variables than external ones; Auburn’s will to win at all cost and inept leadership at UT over that same timespan. Most other factors are at least a push.

if they haven’t fired him they aren’t doing it on Christmas Eve or Christmas. Maybe not even the following week.
eh. the season just ended Saturday, we were going to a bowl SUnday, not going Monday. his grandfather's funeral, investigation news breaks, he got covid and Christmas Eve is tomorrow.

i'd say next week provides a window that this week may not have. especially if you've been doing your due diligence behind the scenes already.

so if we're still doing this same song and dance next Thursday afternoon/evening....i'd say get your cornbread pans ready. lol.

Assuming Pruitt is back, I think he will keep same number of coaches on offense and defense which means Chaney can continue as a walk around coordinator if he wants.

Chaney cut his teeth in coaching tight ends. He wasn't Kiffin's OL coach his first go around in Knoxville.

So tired of this BS. Chaney doesn't recruit, doesn't coach a position. JFC there is no other active coach in college football getting paid what he is to do less. We need an OC that coaches QB's or another position group and who is a dynamic recruiter. Insane.

Trey Wallace on 104.5 the zone is saying that TN lawyers are involved along with the compliance office in the investigation.....that sounds like a lot more serious issue against Pruitt.
That's SOP for any investigation from what I understand. Doesn't mean anything more than they are doing due diligence.

Yeah, the urgency to make a decision has evaporated. As much heartburn as it will cause me, moving slowly is now the correct approach.

(Or, as you said, UT.)

It's just pure laziness and egotism and stubbornness at this point. We are really gonna trot out a 3-7 coach with a staff full of P5 rejects who are only in Knoxville for a quick payday. Then we will get utterly blown out by our rivals, recruiting will tank, kids will transfer, and the program will be an utter dumpster fire again, which will severely limit our options for head coach...especially with all the likely openings next year.

Disagree on the recruiting geography. Their in-state talent pool is marginally better than TN’s but they have to share that pool with one of the best college football programs of all time. The other in-state college we have to contend with is Vandy.

Atlanta is 1.5 hours away with western Georgia being closer. The Florida panhandle is 3 hours away. Charlotte is closer to Knoxville but only by 2 hours.

Most of our talent in TN is in the two grand divisions in the western part of the state.
