Doesn’t matter what we think, if they aren’t going to fire him for going 3-7 they aren’t going to fire him for going 6-6. Even 5-7 might have him back for 2022. That’s how much our administration doesn’t care about winning.Curious - IF JP comes back, what is a record where you would be ok with him moving forward? If he goes 9-3 (lost to big 3 but beat all 4 OOC, UK, VU, Miss, Scar, Mizzou) next year is he on the right track and you can blame COVID/JG and 2020 was just a weird year?
Yea i mean that makes more sense and i wasn’t trying to attack you... i guess it’s harder for me to stomach Bc i seen first hand how Pruitt was handed every single thing he could possibly need to succeed here... much more than Dooley or butch ever had and still managed to screw it up time and time again.the rest of the staff. sounds like OL coach could be in play as well as DL, DC, LB....maybe another spot too.
they'd have to use 2 year deals to get any quality guys to sign up at this point, but assuming they do, then there's still an opportunity to put a good staff together (body of work says don't bet on it though).
maybe i'm putting too much in the FU, but just going off the sh8t sandwich comment.
point being, if they retain pruit, it's not the goal to alienate the fans. i think it's a bigger statement on where this job ranks right now. and it may be better served for this administration and AD to focus their attention on really giving this guy EVERY opportunity to be successful....again.
and i'm not saying i'm for that....i'm not. but if retained, i think that's more likely than any subliminal or overt message to fans and their appetite for TN football.
we do this every off season....and it doesn't matter, because once we see the games played, the "how" comes in to focus and each win and loss looks a certain way thru the "eye test" lens.Curious - IF JP comes back, what is a record where you would be ok with him moving forward? If you say so. I think bringing him back means they’re committed to him through 2022 unless things totally fall apart. 6-6 gets him 2022 imo maybe even 5-7. If they don’t fire him for this awful 3-7 season any form of improvement will be sold as reason to bring him back another year.Sure they would
If he comes back he’s gone unless he goes 7-5
It's just pure laziness and egotism and stubbornness at this point. We are really gonna trot out a 3-7 coach with a staff full of P5 rejects who are only in Knoxville for a quick payday. Then we will get utterly blown out by our rivals, recruiting will tank, kids will transfer, and the program will be an utter dumpster fire again, which will severely limit our options for head coach...especially with all the likely openings next year.
Pruitt needs to go, but Gus ain't the answer...he will fail and be hated in three years just like Pruitt unless he does what I said earlier and hire an outstanding OC and DC..
yes I was, but I trust Hubbs more than anything I might be personally hearing.
They’ve moved on to staff discussions, which tells me what I need to know.
