I really think the game has passed up Chaney. His offense was great in the mid 2000s. But, he loves to draw up long-developing routes without an elite O-line or elite WRs. You have to have those for that to work. We also run a lot of routes where we catch the ball at a stop.
Today, you have to use motion, mis-direction to confuse the defense even for a split second. You need quick throws to get the ball to your playmakers in space to avoid sacks. Drags, rub routes, slants, crosses. Let our receivers catch the ball on the run. Instead we run mostly hitches
