Heres the problem that we're having. Fulmer does not want to make a coaching change. He's dead set on bringing back Pruitt next year. Several boosters are willing to pay up for a new coach, and Fulmer is the lone voice in the room trying to convince them to wait on Pruitt. We have been inquiring and reaching out quietly to see which coaches would be interested, that's why I said get the flight trackers ready because Its interesting to see who they talk to. Auburn struggling to find a coach helps Fulmer's cause as well.

Another interesting move is if Boyd decides to make move without Fulmer. Pruitt losing half his staff certainly doesn't bode well for him and I think Fulmer knows that. Gonna be an interesting couple of weeks.
Same ol' conservative coach he used to be.

There’s no way a few more practices make the team a whole new team from top to bottom.
Having a competent QB goes a long way though. For example, Dobbs. Bailey could tear it up next year and we have a pretty solid season. I’m not predicting that we go 9-3 though. That was a number someone else hypothetically threw out and asked if we would be ok keeping Pruitt.

Urban is on a TV show. He doesn’t want to take flack for saying UT football is terrible. We will just have to agree to disagree in everything else you posted. If we were a top 10 program why did so many coaches turn us down in 2017? I think is roughly about half a dozen, right? Why have we now had 3 bargain bin coaches in a row now? Because that is all we can get now. That is not a top ten program.
Who turned us down? We went for schiano. Fans got outraged. Doeren was coming, we went crazy again and he backed out. Went for Brohm, he was done deal until it was leaked early and it made him mad. Gundy always uses everyone for a raise. Then we went to Tucker, Steele, and Pruitt. Fulmer chose Pruitt. Tell me again who all turned us down?

Don't forget Leach, he would have come too.

That's fair, and it is the piece of information I am missing. If they really have put out back channel feelers to some of the names mentioned around here that seem to be gettable (Freeze, Napier, Chadwell, etc.) and have been told "don't bother," then we are far worse off than most of us imagine. I hope that's not the case, but you can't rule it out.

FWIW, the conventional wisdom I keep seeing from Price and Rucker and the crowd that cover the team is that Fulmer feels he wasn't given enough of a chance to turn things around and that's why he wants to give Pruitt every opportunity, even though as @HankHill has noted, he really already has been given a lot of chances.
i think there's something to the Fulmer sentiment on firing mid season.

i don't think that's going to prevent that decision from being made, especially if the chancellor and president are as involved in the decision as some believe they are. and no telling how conversations with the money folks are going, though i tend to believe what has been posted here....probably a divide on WHO the next hire should be, and that's likely stalling some of this.

long story short...there's a lot we don't know.

i do know that the UTAD is not out to stick it to the fans. lol. i think there's some indecision on what to do, just how much impact the off season/covid really had, and what we would/should do on the next hire.

in the meantime...........let's go nuts.

Dobbs isn’t here no more & you're pinning all your hopes on a freshman based on about 6-8 quarters played this year with an 80’s style offensive scheme

If Fulmer is the lone voice for Pruitt, then it's pretty obvious he needs to be gone too.

What the hell is wrong with these people's ability to make a decision.. It's like they have to lick their finger and stick it in the air every time they take a sh!t....

I have seen it in print we had several turn us down. Some of the ones you mentioned here and Mullen.

This year actually let us know where we are within the SEC.

Yep. This business about this season equating to a 7-5 normal year is smokescreen stuff.

- We lost to Arkansas who was winless in conference last year and trotting out a first year head coach.

- We got boat raced by KY at Neyland.

- We are a glorified scrimmage for the big three.

Sugar coating this excrement of a season needs to stop. We are a bottom feeder program that is only a couple of steps removed from Vandy at this point.

Just giving you a hard time. College ball is so much more fun to watch than pro.......for me anyways.
NBA is all about the players, as the superstars hold all the power. College is more about the institutions and coaches.

NBA is very entertaining, due to the level of skill, but it is filled with egomaniacs. CBB is still pure. NBA playoffs are great, but March Madness is perfection.

Keep in mind where everyone gets their info including Hubbs' crew. Their past 24 hours has been filled with non-answers and educated speculation. Not a single new fact has come out. I don't believe this is anywhere near over yet.
Maybe but the fact that we're hearing about staff turnover and who will likely need replaced is very telling IMO.

I know Pruitt isn’t going to work out, but I can’t get excited about the prospect of a new coach because I no longer believe we can find a good one. After 3 failed head coaches hired by 3 different ADs under different university administrations, I’m starting to believe that a 5-7 program is just what we are in the modern era of college football. We had our chances to adapt and catch up, but we missed the window a long time ago. Butch was probably our best shot.

Callahan just said on Ainge:
"Tennessee may not sign some of the guys that are committed, and they may sign some that are"
