Kiffin has the worst defense in the country. He had never had a good defense as a coach anywhere he has been. He even had Monty Freaking Kiffin and could not stop anyone.
Short term memory loss? Held Bama to their lowest total and Ingram to like 40 yards. Held Florida to only 23 which was their second lowest total. Held Georgia and Scar to under 20. It was an average or above average defense. “Couldn’t stop anyone” is simply wrong

I'll give you that Monty Kiffin could stop a pro-style offense

But look at Florida and Alabama now. Swiss cheese secondaries! Alabama does have a stout rush defense. My point is they both are still capable of giving up 46 points and still winning the game.
Then you just have mediocre Ole Miss with the best offense in the country. Defense still matters, greatly. It's just that the context of what a good defense is is changing.

People used to think (some still do) that the Big 12 just didn't play defense. What they were missing was that the Big 12 had progressive offensive schemes, not that they lacked trying to play defense. Now SEC fans are understanding this too now that the SEC is catching up on modern offenses.

The Ole Miss and a couple other games is what people remember.

Kiffin's defense here allowed 22 ppg. 2nd best scoring defense since Fulmer.

3/4 years at USC he allowed 24 ppg or less.

2/3 years at FAU he allowed 22 ppg.

Not elite, but those are good defenses.

I was not really thinking about his one season at Tennessee when I typed that. I was thinking about his time at USC when he had to fire his dad to try and save his job and his time now at Ole Miss

Oh, you mean the guy who got fired for being lazy and gave Pruitt an extension?

Yeah, don’t think that’s helping this case much.
You can say whatever you want, still doesn't change the fact that your post was the dumbest sh!t I've read on here. Whatever Fulmer did or didn't do as a coach, has or hasn't done as AD...an SEC and a National Championship never "become meaningless". You should be embarrassed thinking something so stupid, and then to post it...

This is stupid
But is it wrong? Look at the offensive numbers being put up

In 2020, defense has existed less. Will that trend continue? Is it due to Covid being a weird year? All SEC schedule? All of the above?

2020 SEC:
- 0 teams allow less than 15 ppg
- 2 teams allow less than 20 ppg
- 7 teams allow 30+ppg

2019:
- 2 teams allow less than 15 ppg
- 6 teams allow less than 20 ppg
- 2 teams allow 30+ppg

2018:
- 2 teams allow less than 15 ppg
- 5 teams allow less than 20 ppg
- 2 teams allow 30+ppg

2017:
- 2 teams allow less than 15 ppg
- 4 teams allow less than 20 ppg
- 4 teams allow 30+ppg
