Recruiting Forum Football Talk III

Starting to look like I won’t be watching volunteer football next fall. I can’t take horrid losses ruining my weekends anymore. Just wished the university cared about our football program as much as we do.

One of my best friends has been an Alabama fan his whole life; the only one I've ever known. In the 90s I'm sure he was miserable and obviously for the past 10+ years he's been ecstatic. Never one to rub it in my face or anything.

With that said, I was watching the NC game last week and looked at my wife and said it must be nice to have a team year in and year out that is probably going to be in the NC game or New Years 6 bowl.

Over the least 10 years, the defeat of just being a mediocre program has taken a toll on a lot of us. Im sure a lot of us have said we're done, or we will never watch again and so on. I have missed more games in the past 3 years than I've missed since I've became a fan when I was 6 years old.

Its frustrating that us, as fans, seem to take this program more serious than people on the hill. So, moving forward im not going to. I may watch here and there, but planning every Saturday in the fall around TN football is an afterthought to me now. Saturdays in the fall aren't fun anymore. I really enjoy a lot of yall on here. I'd say some of that has made being a fan still somewhat fun, but the days of me being miserable over the decisions of this football program and the sh!tty product they put on the field are over.

Hope yall choose to do the same because that's the only way you make your voice heard and hurt the one thing that they do care about, money.

Meh. People talk about not going to games as protest. I don't go to games anymore because of my health. I already own plenty of UT shirts and such, so it's not like I'm rushing out to buy more. I will continue to watch the games on TV because hey, I'm a homer. I keep hoping some day we'll be good again.

Idk why we are waiting...

Culture will be even worse in a year. We will hear the same come Fall...”well the culture is still a problem” blah blah blah. Then we will fall even further behind. It’s not that hard to figure out what will happen.

Going to be a big told you so moment.
Who are we gonna say "I told ya so" to? The administration? They don't give a damn. The vast majority of us on this board have been clamoring to replace him, so we won't be saying it to ourselves. But what we want, and what the admin decides to do are two very different things. The last 15 years have demonstrated that time and time again. Very few times have we seen the admin actually do what the fans want. Mostly it's been them giving us double birds and making bad decisions. They just don't care.

Mathews putting a lot of you sheep on blast this morning
Do you even understand the term "sheep" denotes a blind follower? If anyone here is blindly following along, it's you. You have your nose so far up Fulmer's rectum you can smell his morning breath. Baaaaa.

Pruitt is doing everything right so far this offseason to make changes on the field. Given the investigation, things have gone decently this offseason besides a couple of key guys transferring. Say we go 8-4 or 9-3 next year and our biggest loss is by 18 points to Bama, would y’all’s opinion on him change at all?

Great post. Same page. I come on here because I like talking ball, but my days of getting amped up probably need to end. It’s just not healthy.

Wait. We may keep a 3-7 coach and we only lost roughly 500k? Please tell me our administration seriously isn’t this stupid. And I would like to know how much of the 500k is attributed to accruals for payroll and other expenses. Without accruing anything, we may have had positive cash flows. What a slap in the face to fans if he doesn’t get fired and they tried to blame money woes.

We won't so it won't.

It's literally been an ultraaaa sloooow gigantic trainwreck since the second half of the UGA game last year.
How this train wreck has been handled should tell the fanbase and the rest of CFB how the leadership of this University and AD feel about competing. If Pruitt is retained... they simply don’t care. They are completely onboard with maintaining status quo with the worst coach (from a statistical L perspective) we’ve ever had. They know that the reaction will be what it has been on this board but in the end you’ll take the cheese and come back to generating them revenue. Until fans get tired of supporting this hot pile of steamy garbage nothing is going to change. For the fans that revert back to saying, “well, a decision has been made so I guess I got to jump onboard again.” you can blame yourselves for this mess continuing and really have no business complaining at the end of the day. I guess I’m in the minority of treating UT football and CFB at-large kinda like an investment. I’ll start supporting with time and money again when I know they’ve fired the guy(s) that can’t run their business, made corrections to how they operate and hire a proven winner as a HC and a competent AD. Until then I’ll put my time and money into other things that give me and my family a better return on our investment. UT is like TOPS on the NASDAQ. I’ll let y’all do the research. 🥴

For the other group of fans that like to get beaten, robbed and left for the train to run you over again and again. I hope it’s worth it.

I will still think he got lucky. He would need more than one year and 8-9 wins in year four should be the floor. But he isn’t sniffing 8-9 wins next year. Fans will be booing every second when we lose to Pitt.

My opinion won’t change because the chances of him going 8-4 or 9-3 next season are slim to none.

A $4.4M drop in contributions is going to be child’s play compared to the next run.

I’m already likely to pull mine after they upheld raises AFTER begging us for money, promising to carve our names on some stupid wall that will never be built, then rolling out the most soul sucking season in a 15 year parade of miserable seasons, and wrapping it up with 2 months that defy all logic and explanation.

It’s the part of the Pruitt Stays narrative that just blows my mind. The costs on the back end of this are going to be astronomical.

You had 80-90% of your season ticket base watch from home last year and learn what that experience is like. Even in all but the greatest years you wouldn’t have 100% of that group come back...I can’t imagine what those numbers will be after this.
