Ugh, landing Hooker and Big Kat, 2 of the best transfers available, and losing nobody of consequence except maybe Wanya, our back up LT, is absolutely nailing the transfer market. And we aren’t finished yet

Why does anyone think Hooker is any good. He is Va Tech’s version of JG. He is a bad experienced QB that lost his starting job and transferred away.

If we are playing Hooker next year we will be losing just like the last two years. With bad experienced QB play.

He had a really good 2019 season. I don’t think his story is written yet. But if nothing else, he provides key depth and competition that will only make that room better

I’ve been on the fire Pruitt train hard but @Bassmaster_Vol made a good point this morning. Pruitt won 8 with JG as quarterback. I think JG’s lack of real leadership is part of what poisoned the team this year- on top of poor play. I’m curious to see what a solid offensive scheme could do for us, and perhaps learning to defend a slant.
People forget how much crap Dabo used to get over winning games that matter- if we do get stuck with Pruitt again we may just as well hope for a similar trajectory.

I mean, he won 8 with JG at QB. I don’t know why we think it’s impossible for him to win 8 next year with an upgraded staff and better QB play. He may not, but it certainly isn’t impossible

With that schedule and roster he should have won 10 easy. No excuse for Ga St and BYU was a win as long as they didn’t call stupid defenses in the last minute of the game. Both of those games I fear are who this coaching staff “really” is, And it is what I expect to see more of in 2021.

Pruitt will be fired in November, but I can ALMOST talk myself into thinking Pruitt can have a good defense. I am completely convinced he will never have a good offense though.

Keeping Pruitt after a disastrous 3-7 season shows they don’t care.

They’ll continue to trot out bad product as long as you continue to give them money.

Players weren’t allowed on campus.... we have been over that 1,000 times.

I’m fine with depth and competition. But the truth is he was a starter at a struggling power 5 school and lost his spot. If he is our experienced backup available if we have an injury I’m happy he is on the team. But if he is our “best option to win” we are in trouble.

I get that, but hard head didn't really attempt to get another quarterback ready when he Knew JG couldn't get it done...malpractice

MAYBE with a full off-season
MAYBE Pruitt can turn it around
MAYBE we can have a game changing qb for the 10th year in a row

All of those words scream uncertainty and we've been hiring coaches that have made those excuses for years.

How about DO go find someone that doesn't have a losing record, not thin skinned or never been a head coach to fix your problems. I dont care who it is at this point. Just find someone to DO it and let these lame duck excuse makers work for someone else.

He had 0 passing TD and 5 ints and got benched but he his gonna save the day for us! Don’t think so...it’s just gonna hamper the development of HB and Salter. Which our coaches suck in the development of QB’s anyway so we screwed!

I agree about GSU. Absolutely zero excuse for that game. They didn’t even prepare for them and treated it like a scrimmage. Really dumb.

Disagree about BYU. JG was awful that game, and if you remember, Maurer was inserted 2 weeks later against Fl so they weren’t sticking with him like they did this year. Also, the play call wasn’t bad to end the game, AT made a mistake. He did the wrong thing there

He had 9 passing TDs, not 0. 3 of those INTs came in one bad game. He still threw them, that’s just more info about it.

And I certainly don’t think he’s gonna save the day, just that he brings the ability to escape pressure - something we always hated on JG for.

My hope is HB or KSalt take reigns in camp and we don’t look back, but it’s good to have depth and competition.


Edit: Also, another way to look at this is he played in 8 games this season. So he was responsible for 18 TDs in 8 games.

That’s all you will hear no matter who we hire..... none of this discussion matters...... all that matters is what they prove on the field next year.

Completely agree. Very few on here actually watched him play at VT. He did not pass well, he thinks slowly like JG, he didn't read coverages well, he took off and ran better than JG. In a different RPO offense he could do the basics OK. But he could never run a full blown Chadwell or Freeze O. So he's the 3-5 wins in a transitional year QB. If Pruitt is back, this is not a transitional year.
