Completely agree. Very few on here actually watched him play at VT. He did not pass well, he thinks slowly like JG, he didn't read coverages well, he took off and ran better than JG. In a different RPO offense he could do the basics OK. But he could never run a full blown Chadwell or Freeze O. So he's the 3-5 wins in a transitional year QB. If Pruitt is back, this is not a transitional year.

I watched him and he is a better playmaker than JG when things don’t go as planned. I think it’s a solid pickup of a very talented QB to add to the QB room that doesn’t scare/piss off the current ones but could end up becoming really good player for you. Hooker is a very good pickup.

I wonder if TJ Carter was the instate db price had mentioned mths ago as a possible Cb transfer that could be added. Saw he announced to portal this week. It would make sense but not sure if the drama causes pause since I’m sure he will be heavily recruited... too bad we had all the leaked drama by our resident booster posters otherwise we might have already lined up Gilbert, Carter to go with Big Kat and Hooker

Players weren’t allowed on campus.... we have been over that 1,000 times.

ok....I'm not up to speed on Knox County/Knoxville current guidelines other than to assume they are still just as restrictive as ever....did UTK double down on restrictions from Knox?
what, if anything, has changed with regard to these guidelines that will make it less likely for the cycle to repeat itself again?

He had a really good 2019 season. I don’t think his story is written yet. But if nothing else, he provides key depth and competition that will only make that room better
If he provides anything more than depth then F Pruitt and F Weinke all over again. Bailey is the guy unless Salter shows out. Pocket passers still reign. Mobility is simply icing on the cake. Hooker is not a better passer than HB. Don’t ever want to see him take the field.

I think it was @BruinVol who said it first and I agree - all Pruitt has done through this mess is go to work, put in the effort and try to make the Vols better.

He has that drive. He doesn’t want to fail. He doesn’t want to quit.

These are signs of a winning mentality.

I’m pulling for him.

He’s doing the job he’s getting paid millions to do.

Doesn't matter, honestly. The job is HB's to lose.

What is the evidence of him putting in extraordinary effort?

He's continuing to do stuff all head coaches across the country are doing, yes?

I guess I can appreciate he hasn't completely mailed it in due to the investigation and the calls for his job, but I don't know anyone that would give up millions of dollars because they are all up in their feelings about being bad at their job.

Sounds like a hugh freeze play
IF we can somehow steal Gilbert, i'm actually pretty damn excited to see what happens with Gray, Gilbert, Velus and Hyatt on the field at the same time as HB.
That could actually end up being a damned good offense if Chaney can scheme for them properly.
EDIT: and Wideman. Can't believe I forgot to mention him.

So the HC who has that drive to win, put Bagman Nieds as the ILB coach. Nieds had shown no real history as an ILB coach. He did that the year after D leader Bituli leaves while having to develop two RB's into ILB's. Pruitt made that decision along with firing his newly hired DL coach after the 4th game for the entire coaching fraternity to see.

Is that working hard and not wanting to fail? If so, he qualifies.

I am not convinced that Pruitt can fix the defense. Everyone seems to think that is a foregone conclusion. We were absolutely putrid on defense last year. Yes, offense was worse, but our D was probably the second worse in the conference just ahead of Ole Miss.
IF Pruitt did nothing but focus on defense and left the offense to the guys that know what they are doing, I think Pruitt can get the defense solid.

We are at the spot where Rocky finally starts landing some blows.

We were actually 7th in scoring and total defense. Our pass defense was putrid though. 11th in the conference in yards and 13th in completion percentage
