Ingram- played at UT. Has done a tremendous job everywhere he has been raising funds as well as a natural leader in building a program. Great and successful resume.

Gilbert- Barnes recommendation. Bama guy. Tried to run off Pat Summit along with Dave Hart. Played large part in rebranding Lady Vols and hiring of Tyndall. Has done literally nothing at ECU or advanced their athletics in any way.

..........yeah **** John Gilbert. Gimme Mark Ingram 6 days a week and twice on Sunday.
Mentioned this yesterday - Ingram checks almost every box imaginable, which means we won't hire him. Not only do I think he has experience that would be incredibly relevant here (he helped bring UAB football back from the dead, literally) but he's an alum and played football here. Has helped raise a bunch of money. He would "get it." Just go out and hire him right now. It's a no-brainer.

I want Ingram like most here but I don’t think the mud slinging toward Gilbert is fair. Sure he was at Bama for a long period of time but that was a long time ago AND his son wears orange and white now. Barnes is the best thing our university has going now and if he wants him that’s good enough for me

Also, a LOT of people that work in administration aren't typical fans like a lot of people on this board. They bounce around from school to school as they climb the ladder. Most people in administration's loyalty and fandom is to their paycheck.

Bama and Florida both have really well run ADs, I know they're rivals but us refusing to hire from within their ranks is like Bing refusing to hire from Google.

I predicted an AD hire by tomorrow...coaching hire next week. Still holding with that prognostication, but I could see being on an AD hire’s timeline. Up and bolting to the next job without notice shouldn’t be what we’re hiring. So maybe just the announcement?

I think regardless of the hire, we are going to be in trouble for ~2 years due NCAA. This next coach actually NEEDS a "year zero"

Expect 3-9 or 4-8

He helped hire Donnie T and was part of the renaming of Lady Vols. Also he has done nothing at ECU.
Bruin has notably bad takes. The very fact he supports Gilbert pushes me even more in the Ingram direction, and that's where I was to begin with. No one here should want to revisit Tyndall or that whole Lady Vol catastrophe.

Don't forget that Kevin Steele faints before/during games and also had a mental breakdown mid-game when WVU hung 70 on Clemson

I actually think that subject is why we should be open minded with him.

his “issues” are in the past and were very much a factor in his failures at Baylor.

People going to buy tickets when they hire Gilbert and Steele as HC?
Reality is, we dont need a coach to sell tickets because of who his name is or how good his press conference goes. He needs to sell tickets because of his product. Jones packed the stadium for awhile with a salesman approach.

If they hired Dooley back and he won 10 games a year, people would buy tickets and go and wouldnt give 2 thoughts as to not going because Dooley was the coach.

And nobody is buying tickets to watch the AD either. If whoever that guy is makes a good hire it will work out, if he doesn't, his name isnt going to sell tickets either.

HC- Lane
OL/Co-OC- Chaney
QB/Co-OC- Lebby
RB- Graham
WR- Tee
TE- No clue
DC - Steele
DL- Garner
LB - Lance Thompson
LB- Jerod Mayo
DB- No clue
Idk why people keep putting Mayo as a position coach. The dude is getting HC interviews in the NFL, only was he is coming here is as HC, maybe DC if the right guy is hired.

Gag. Would be an absolutely pathetic hire. A true trot of a hire.

Peak Tennessee to hire Steele... It would have been FAR more beneficial to keep Pruitt one more year then fire him without cause. Then we would've had time behind the scenes to vet a new coach without these upcoming huge sanctions.

Most of us want Ingram so of course he wants Gilbert. If we wanted Gilbert he would want Ingram. That’s his entire trolling game. Pick the worst side and argue that side relentlessly with anyone that will pay attention. He’s been doing this for many years. Blows my mind he’s not on everyone’s ignore list.

If Steele is ultimately the guy then I will initially be underwhelmed with the hire because I think this job needs someone with significant head coaching experience at Power 5 conference, but I would reserve judgment until I saw what staff he hired; especially on the offensive side of the ball.

His record at Baylor was 20 years ago and done with both hands tied behind his back and blindfolded from an institutional perspective because Baylor just didn't care about winning. If he doesn't take that job 20 years ago I'd imagine he would be a much better looking candidate.

And he is older and seemingly calmer than Pruitt; someone coaches would want to work for, players want to play for and fans can embrace. He doesn't strike me as a hot head who will shoot first and ask questions later.

I think the issue with Herman is his winning percentage, while higher than the others, is lower than it should be. Guy is in a talent rich state with basically unlimited resources in a middle of the pack conference.

He should have been running the table like Clemson. Granted he's had a good Oklahoma program to contend with but he should easily be top dog in that conference with his resources.

Not saying I wouldn't be excited if he's hired. I just see why some people aren't high on him.
Not just Oklahoma he's had to contend with recruiting-wise. TAMU has that SEC draw for Texas recruits, not to mention several other good programs in state.
