See my Jim Chaney comparison.I think you’re confused. Steele is an excellent DC. I’m not saying he’d be a good HC. Pruitt was also an excellent DC but he proved to be a terrible HC.
There’s a ton of evidence that Steele is an excellent DC if you look around. Not sure why you’re needing to wait and see how he would do at UT as a DC.
I think you could be right. There’s no doubt they’ve already spoken to their new HC many times about staff. And you would think this next HC has to be offensive minded with the way the game is now and our candidate pool certainly suggests that’s the case.I'm starting to think it's Chadwell. It seems UT is setting this up for a young, offensive minded head coach to come in. He would have most of the defensive coaches (experienced SEC coaches/recruiters) in place and JC would fill out the offensive staff after he's officially hired. That makes sense to me.
I'd still rather have a bigger name with prior F5 or SEC experience but I think Chadwell could be good for us. IMO, he'd be a risky hire for UT at this time.
Well **** man. I don't think Bama was gonna make him head coach. And what other head coaching jobs is he going to get right now?So embarrassing to think there were folks on the hill that supposedly wanted him for HC, and out biggest rival is hiring him for position coach! Tells ya all ya need to know!!
I do, that’s what I want. Build this damn program back from ashes but not in the Bama blueprint. The Clemson way could work.If it's Chadwell, I agree it's a big risk. I doubt he comes in and has immediate success. The best we could hope for is a "Dabo-like" build of the program. Clemson wasn't built overnight. Do we, as fans, have that kind of patience? Once upon a time, yes. I'm not so sure anymore. We've been living a nightmare for so long.

You think it’s Chadwell? If not, who’s your guess?
Praise God for daily victories!! We continue to lift Drew and your family in our prayers. Stay Strong!!Drew is battling. He’s had pretty frequent blood transfusions due to his low counts. He has had chemo about every 3-4 weeks. It’s surprisingly not been as bad as I envisioned, but kids are a lot tougher than adults. He has had strength gains (Praise God) and recently started wanting to eat meals. He’s down quite a bit of weight. I’ll take the small victories right now (like the appetite returning) all day long. God is bigger than that though and this has drawn him so close to Him.
Thank you for asking. #LiftUpDrew
That is a pretty good article.. it'll fall on a lot of def ears though because of who wrote it
Caldwell isn't in that group for college. Lane fits better than Caldwell imo.If Boyd says proven winner, does Kiffin really fall into that category? I think he would win big but technically he hasn’t proven it from a wins standpoint outside at FAU.
Makes me think BoB, Caldwell, Herman are part of the group. Steele/Garner being on staff would make sense for those 3 guys to help with recruiting the region.
I can live with most of this list actually. No I dont think its Chadwell.
Alot of things have been going on behind the scenes since Christmas. They had to wait till outside counsel finished their due diligence, which ended with Pruitt's interview with them 6 days ago.
They got the search firm involved a couple days later to give them cover. They are letting the firm fully vet the candidates and kick the tires on any other ones. But I believe they know who they are going to hire as AD, and expect it to be announced within a week of Pruitt's firing. I think they have a short list of candidates for HC that the search firm is vetting for interest and background. Look what happened to the NY Mets with their GM Jared Porter. The Mets checked his references but did not peel enough layers of the onion off. UT Im sure is willing to take a little extra time to fully vet those they are getting ready to hire as AD and HC. We/they need to get this right.
So if that means taking some extra time to peel enough layers of the onion off to make sure we know we are getting it right, I'm fine with that. Many people want instant gratification in today's world, but haste can make waste! IMHO the stars are lining up for us to finally get this right. We seem to have the leadership in place to do it, with the backing of most of the FU money donors.
My guesses as to who the top tier candidates are (in no particular order):
Kiffin
Herman
Napier
OBrien
Gus
Darkhorses:
Neal Brown
Chadwell
Healy
Bill Clark
Satterfield
