Hi all, been a while I know we are at defcon 1 but

After a lot of toil and tragedy my second novel The Alternator is now live on Amazon:

amazing cover by @LeBleu

slugline:
What if murder wasn't a mystery? For one young man, it is always decided by a simple code of chance taught to him by his mentor, a gruff truck driver named Petty who once took him under his wing. Now a trucker himself, the map savant travels the quickest routes coast to coast through 1990s America listening to the Top 40 countdown and holding the fate of those he encounters in the palm of his hand. Are the rules there to allow the natural order to assert itself or to keep a traumatic past from feeding his dark impulses and spiraling him out of control?

All profits will go to Young-Williams Animal Shelter in honor of my late wife.

Thanks and Go Vols
So very sorry to hear about your wife passing. All the good vibes I can muster are headed your way. Truly, truly sorry.

Glad to see Hubbs (who is obviously 1000000000x more well-sourced than I am) confirming some of the things I'm hearing.

Compton was the third person I heard was in the interview process.

I've been told they are aiming to have a centralized location - likely not in Knoxville - to hold multiple interviews starting Friday and continuing through the weekend. They want a decision this weekend.
Would be good if we "hurry up" this time and get our HC next week to try and save this class and start recruiting the all important 22' class of instate kids, could be a true game changer.

Its down to 2, I think Danny White wins out

Going to completely skip over his NFL career? Of only 2 losing seasons one being when he lost Peyton? The other being 7-9 with lions where he went 36-28 with Lions at 11-5 and 9-7 twice and now see what happened to lions once he was let go? But you want to discuss what he did 21 years ago?

In between his colts/lions tenure he was offensive coordinator of super bowl champion Ravens.

The guy can coach and lead.
He has Manning and Stafford, while Marrone had EJ Manuel, Blake Bortles, Gardner Minshew, and Mike Glennon. The year Manning was hurt they were 2-14.

Him winning a Super Bowl as a coordinator is just the same to me as Pruitt winning a national championship as a DC.

I love Caldwell. He did a fantastic job with Detroit and they were so dumb for ever firing him. fantastic teacher and great guy that would win in living rooms. He’s also a damn good offensive coach.

Here’s a couple videos that i think people may be interested in.

Caldwell would be a very good hire for the Texans. He'd be a GREAT hire for the Vols.

Like I said though, there's no way a guy at his age wants to do all it takes to run a college program.

If he builds the right staff.... he could do well here.
I think that is the case with any HC. Question becomes can he allow his coaches to coach? Dabo is a great example of being a HC. He gets the right guys in and let’s them do their job. My concern with Steele besides the obvious hasn’t had a successful HCing career is can be the CEO/HC we would need him to be to be successful? A lot of so called “insiders” say he is like Pruitt and that’s a concern with me. Does he allow his coaches to do their thing.

I don’t care whose feelings would be hurt...if we could land Kiffin with Steele as DC, and lock him into a contract that guarantees he stays at least 5 years, because his buyout, if he leaves, is so ridiculous no one would touch him (and that includes NFL), then you make it happen ASAP!!! We have more talent than Ole Miss and he was scoring insane points with them. Steele would get the defense turned around. My only reason I don’t see it happening is that the NCAA would probably frown heavily on that move and hammer us more for the infractions. I know this...there are 4 of us on this board who would call the ticket office and request season tickets as soon as the hire is made!
Twitter would melt if Vol Twitter and Kiffin reunited. We might be terrible on the field but we’d never lose a meme war. That said, I have no confidence in anyone other than Schiano McGoogle showing up at the podium until boosters show us that FU money and actually use it for the program.

Sorry for your loss buddy. Prayers sent.

I think he would be a great hire and is a rising star as an AD. He already has several proof points of successful hires and is a very intelligent individual.

Also, with his Dad being the long term AD at Duke it will expand his network tenfold. Sure that's connection is how he got Jonny Dawkins to UCF, but regardless he will leverage contacts and will have industry credibility.
