Look what Randy Boyd did with Barnes, and he knows football is 10x more important. He’s also really good at bringing people together and getting them on the same page. This makes the talk of putting together a $40m package plausible.

I find it hard to believe that you fire Pruitt and hire Steele. They know how important this hire is and want a successful coach. Steele is not that. If I had to guess, it’s going to be OBrien, Napier, or Chadwell.

This is true. This along with the podcast plus them offering big money for an AD is giving me more hope today. But candidates have to be willing to take the job too. Money doesn’t always work

I think he would be a great hire and is a rising star as an AD. He already has several proof points of successful hires and is a very intelligent individual.

Also, with his Dad being the long term AD at Duke it will expand his network tenfold. Sure that's connection is how he got Jonny Dawkins to UCF, but regardless he will leverage contacts and will have industry credibility.

So sounds like the progression for the AD hire now is looking like this?

We’re gonna be paying whoever we hire 5m + a year regardless of how much we as fans think they are worth it. Only way we can land a good HC at this point.

I feel like Kiffin is the absolute best option if you want a quick fix with recruiting. His ceiling is also really high - and he could probably go blow for blow with Saban next year, right out of the gate. And I don't care, it should be understood next year is a mulligan year. If we lose every game by double digits, it is what it is. Expectations really aren't much higher than that anyway.

With a structured contract that basically makes it impossible for him to leave and has all kinds of morality clauses in it, I really think this is the best option. You have to be willing to tell the media to F off if you are UT leadership and not care how this looks.

I agree an interim at this point tanks recruiting worse than sanctions would. An interim only works during the season - you really need the the real guy in place for the offseason. There really aren't many guys that can come in and generate enough buzz to bring in recruits, but Kiffin is one of them.

No. But money, control, and time does. If you give a coach a guaranteed five years, control, and $7-8 million per year. That will give you a lot of good coaches. We need to figure out who is our guy and don’t let them say no. You live with them until they strike a deal. I’m sleeping at Matt Campbell’s house or Chris Petersen’s house until they sign the contract.
