Pruitt was far worse than any of those. Dooley had a record offense in 2012 but made a bad hire in sunseri because Steele was nixed after giving up 70 points. Butch won 9 games and should have won more. He started coaching scared and let the players start doing whatever they wanted. Pruitt is literally a dumba$$. He had absolutely no clue how to manage anything. I promise you in the next few months you'll learn just how literally incompetent and unqualified he was to be a head coach. Trust me.

You guys think you won't care about all the BS if we win, but the BS is going to be thicker than you expect, and it will be a reason we don't win. He's the Joel Osteen of coaches. He will replace the Maxims with his top 10 favorite metaphors on day one. And then what are you gonna do when he loses?

White has talked about everyone involved in Athletics working together and moving in the same direction. Fleck is a one man show. The show is bigger than the team and its certainly bigger than the program.

Tried to picture it. Can't. Do not see that dude ever coming here. He's perfect for places with no money and no tradition that he can envelop with his shtick.

So the opinion on Tony Elliott is formed because Saban has had assistants who have crashed and burned as HCs? People putting too much emphasis on being a coordinator or a current HC IMO. We are paying an AD nearly 2M a year (among the highest) to do a job like he has done in places before with tremendous success. If he likes a current coordinator for this HC position, people probably want to give that a chance.

I think he could put a nice staff together. Just don’t see a guy with zero experience as a head coach dealing with sanctions at a university that has a lot of obstacles to overcome doing anything except us looking for another coach in 4 years.

This is what baffles me. 5 days ago everyone was losing their **** because they felt we made a Grand Slam hire for the AD position.............only to babble about him making a potential poor hire days later. If you felt DW was a tremendous hire because of his program building, then why not support the decision he makes?

I already think Pruitt was incompetent. What does that have to do with Elliott? They're not the same person. Like I said, there are other choices I would want first, but if it comes down to Elliott, I'll be okay with that. You can't make someone take this job if they don't want it.

Kirby walked into a team full of 4 and 5 stars when the SEC East was at its lowest point in years. On the Mullen front, MS State doesn't have the tradition of ever being a power house. Not like they were going to go get a top 20 HC at the time. We are TN we have tradition and we've tried the coordinator route. I want someone who's RAN a program at some level.

You're right about Tennessee having tradition. The only problem with that statement is that our tradition was 20 years ago. If you're hanging your hat on our current traditions, you're hanging it in the wrong place.

That the list of coordinators who jump from that position to a big power 5 program is short. The list of successful ones is even shorter. There's a sitting, successful HC somewhere that would take this job.

Cool thing about an Elliot hire is it might help knock Clemson down a notch. They’ve benefitted from a lot - and staff continuity is definitely one of the major things.
