Elliott would land every one of those instate 22’ kids. He’d do much more with the talent than Pruitt ever did.

There is zero basis for this statement. I hate to dish out some reality but in 2021 Clemson without Elliott would have a much better recruiting class than Tennessee with Elliott. If Clemson, Ohio State or Alabama were heavily after the top 10 players in state. We would be doing fantastic to get half.

Before you guys make the same mistake I did. Look up the row the boat saying by fleck. Look where it came from. I feel bad now.

Some people have and still have a ****** take.

I think it’s sad and disgusting that he exploits the story of his son and uses goofy phrases to raise his profile. Screams Butch...but worse.

Moreso the fact that Dabo hasn't had to replace a coordinator since they made their first playoff appearance in 15'.
Venables apparently has had HC options he has turned down more than once.
And the OC has only changed once since Morris took the job 10 years ago.
Which is odd for a team on that has been at or on top for extended stretch.

Saban on the other hand has won NCs with completely different staffs

It hasn't hurt Saban because he has 5 stars in his 3 deep rotation. No one wins National Championships without great players. If Saban didn't have 5 star recruits, he would just be another head coach.

You're right about Tennessee having tradition. The only problem with that statement is that our tradition was 20 years ago. If you're hanging your hat on our current traditions, you're hanging it in the wrong place.

Have enough tradition and resources where you dont have to hire a coordinator. Yeah.

Wow. The Elliot hate seems more than a little irrational.

On one hand, I definitely see the benefit of having an experienced HC, but I would much rather have TE than some of the HC names being thrown around. He has been kicking our ass in recruiting for a few years now, runs the perfect offense for us, and would come in highly motivated and energized. That is the culture at Clemson and he has been a big part of it.

If we can get Petersen out of retirement or pull Campbell from ISU, then great, but even then there are no guarantees. Frankly, I think it is a moonshot to try to get a top tier coach here right now, no matter what we offer.

But having DW in place would automatically disqualify any comparison between TE and Pruitt. Having the right AD in place can make all the difference and PF was never the right AD and any coach he hired would have failed. Culture starts at the top.

Bring on Cutcliffe 5 year, $15 Million. Elliot AHC/OC

Adds respectability during the sanctions.

Does Daddy Kevin a favor.

Lands Arch Manning in 2023

Familiar with much of current staff.

Yep, I've turned down projects that aren't what I'm looking for at that particular time. And I've taken a few projects just because the money was too good to pass up and they, predictably, weren't the best experiences. Coaches are no different. They could pass because of timing, location, family, fit, personal goals or any number of factors. We need a guy who wants to be at UT, is up for the challenge, meshes well with our personnel, wants to win and is ready to rebuild.
I can think of a couple of guys that fit that criteria but Tennessee won’t even touch them...You’d think by the time you got told no by your top 5 it’s time for a new top 5 and we shouldn’t hire another coordinator in that top 10...If we do either White is fos or everyone turned us down without even trying to get a raise from their current employer.
