It's good! A little on the fancier side for a BBQ joint, Railhead and Angelo's in town have more old-school authenticity, but Woodshed has good meats, with a nice outdoor seating area along the Trinity River.
Thanks, I checked out the menu...seemed a little Austin new age uppity šŸ˜³

Will definitely check it out.

I donā€™t really want to put a win total # on this staff for year one. Weā€™re not going to be very good and we have have 0 wiggle room for injuries. Weā€™ve been pretty lucky injury wise the last few years so probably just a matter of time before the bug bites us. Hereā€™s what i want to see:

1. Win or close losses in 10/12 games. I can stomach a couple of blowouts specifically to bama and Georgia but we need to be in every other game.

2. Creativity on offense and less rotation on the OL and really just in general. Same thing for position switching. They havenā€™t done any so far which is what JH said and i like it. I think thereā€™s a few good candidates tho for switches.

3. Build recruiting momentum specifically in the summer before the season. Camps can start June 1st and apparently this staff has a couple big things planned and a couple new concepts like when top golf comes to neyland.

4. I want to see more man and man free defenses and mix up our pressures. We were way too vanilla on defense the last two years.
I can't stomach quitting on the field and grab assing on the sideline when they are losing. I want them playing to the whistle and until the clock hits 0.

I think our win range is 3-5 games. And Iā€™m not going to think any less of Heupel; itā€™s just the hand he was dealt by the administration. Maybe he can wizard up enough offense to get us bowl eligible, but this defense is going to be bahhhd

It is simply the reality of the situation. And as with other coaches before, I'll be here in the fall with a level tone while the people like you who are blind to the situation are apoplectic at all the wrong things. That you can look at the last decade of SEC football, look the current landscape, look at the shape of our roster that's basically like we've already got scholarship penalties, look at two of our perennial rivals amassing talent at rates hitherto unseen, then look at the state of the program as a whole and how it's perceived by recruits who grew up as fans and had the opportunity to come here, all of these things. That you could take all that in, and say with your chest that 7 wins should be the floor for this season is just living in a fantasy world. It's not 2013. This program is not nearly healthy enough to expect 7 wins from even an easy schedule like this.

Oh look, itā€™s the ā€œrealisticā€ argument.

This team has enough talent to beat 3 cupcakes, Vandy, USC, and Pitt...and I never accept a loss to UK because itā€™s only happened 7 times in 55 years. Will they? I donā€™t know. Would 6 wins be ok? Yes. But you canā€™t convince me we donā€™t have the ability to beat those schools.

I like number 2. Pruitt and the staff were constantly moving people around to different positions. I know you are referring to the OL but remember the joke in here was that every time Pruitt recruited a WR they were going to end up a DB. lol

Agreed. The only teams that simply will ā€œout talentā€ us are Bama and Georgia. Thatā€™s it. Florida is more talented, but not to the point of overwhelming us with talent like those two. We will ā€œout talentā€ the 3 cupcakes and Vandy. Everyone else on our schedule is similar enough that we can either win or lose based on how each team plays that game. That depends on coaching scheme, preparedness, and luck primarily. Hopefully, our current staff is better than our previous few staffs at the first two. But luck will always play a factor in games with similar opponents too. 4 wins is possible, 8 wins is possible. 5-7 wins is most likely. But to say we just donā€™t have the talent to even compete with Kentucky, Ole Miss or Mizzou is laughable. Those teams are average, just like us.

One thing I'll be looking for with Heupel is how well he does in the portal. Can he identify and sign players who fit his system and play in the SEC?

We laugh but Itā€™s true tho. How the heck can you expect a kid to develop when he doesnā€™t have a home. Imagine if mojo stayed at DE or MLB since day 1. He would be better at both. Secondary is really the only place Iā€™m cool with it because the more positions they can play... the better you can disguise your looks.

Same. As long as you are getting guys that are productive in SOMETHING for you. Whether it be special teams or an occasional touch on offense or just a few snaps here and there. You can get guys like deangelo Gibbs that never sniff the damn field.

Those teams aren't playing special teams players at LB either

Everything is "we'll see" right now. We'll see about this staff, we'll see about the sanctions, we'll see about recruiting, we'll see about players leaving, we'll see about developing those who stay, we'll see about plugging gaps with transfers, we'll see about rebuilding in-state relationships and convincing the best in-state talent to stay home and help rebuild.

We'll see about uniform changes and getting all the oranges to match. We'll see about facilities renos and hiring the right assistants and getting all of our marquee programs moving in the right direction... at the same time.

We are the University of We'll See.

Is this an actual thing they are working on? Has been driving me crazy for years!

You've embraced the negativity. I mean, Catbone liked your post. That should tell you something. We're not as bad off as you want to believe. We may not be the team we were in the '90's, but we're not Vandy either. LOOK at our schedule. 7 wins should be attainable. Pretending otherwise is just silly. I just don't understand why you would want to embrace this whole "woe is me" , "the sky is falling" mentality. No way can it be enjoyable to think like that. Being a fan should be fun, not a miserable experience.
