It's a message board, as I have been told. You admitted that you have a scar from an orbital fracture in a bar fight. What is wrong with this picture? I am just cautioning that your line of thinking is what make this world crazy.
Guess you missed the part where I said I learned a valuable lesson from it as well? Don’t know how there is anything wrong with that picture. I was young and dumb and had too much to drink and paid for it.

Now I don’t allow myself to get that way. Pretty simple fix and the best way to humble me and make me realize I was young and dumb.

Was your valuable lesson not to steal Midfielder's girl friend?

You might need to have been here awhile to get that reference.

That's fine, but if it goes to court, he'll pay punitive damages for his assault. Is he gonna handle that bad day by handing out another ass-whoopin'?

Well if it goes to court then he pays for his actions. I mean did I deny that part? I said if the guy was seriously injured obviously those costs should be paid for. But, if he just went to sleep with a black eye, well lesson learned.

Just because he gets in trouble for it, doesn’t mean he was in the wrong
Please be careful how you advise people- I am being serious. I tell young people all of the time that they can simply walk away from uncomfortable/controversial/aggressive situations. It has nothing to do with being "wusses." That is absolutely asinine thinking. Use the brain that the good Lord gave you, and walking away shows more kahunas than anything else. Our society needs to learn to diffuse situations, not incite them. That goes for alot of things. We have eyes, ears, and a brain to use instead of fists and weapons.

It has nothing to do with the big guy being a fighter- absolutely nothing. I would tell you the same thing if it was a smaller guy who did it. Also, the big guy was the one who INITIATED it- not the other way around. You can stick to your story and that is why we hear many of these types of stories. LOL.
How do people think the fighter would have reacted if the drunk guy moved him out of the way to get by? I doubt he would have just let it go.

Many people are unfamiliar with this and I wonder how many families or students actually file it, but basically with any scholarship the only tax free portion is books/tuition. Housing, meals, etc is taxable income and schools do report to IRS and do provide students with a form for tax purposes.
Yup the biggest problem I'd always see are schools reporting bare minimums on their 1098-T, such as a total amount which didn't help us at all. We'd literally have to get the individuals to print out their registrar payment details to break it down...and yes they had zero idea any portion was taxable.

Fin Aid offices should be more educational in this regard.

Even though I never got in a bar fight, back in MY day, when they did happen, there were "no witnesses" cause everyone kept their yap shut. We didn't have these gosh darned new fangle phones that double as computers and video recorders and whoopty-doo everything else they do. No, we had to settle for flip phones that could give us brain tumors and we LIKED it. We LOVED it. Gosh darn whipper snappers and your confounded technology.

I wonder if players in Colorado can endorse weed?
The NCAA is basically leaving it all up to the schools now in fear of legal action. They just put out a blanket statement that their shouldn't be deals with businesses not "in alignment with NCAA values and image" or some crap to that effect - strongly suggesting no alcohol, weed, gambling deals.

I'm not a lawyer, but I think a decent case could be made for aggravated assault. A civil suit might be the least of his worries. I would say both men have room for growth and hopefully both men learned something.

I've said this before, but these things aren't as binary as we make them. Just because the drunk needed a whoopin doesn't mean the whoopin wasn't a felony. There isn't necessarily a good guy to go along with every bad guy. It's almost always shades of gray, and possibly shades of black in this case. Moral to the story? Assume that everyone you disrespect could harm you...and then just don't disrespect them.
